Sadly, this didn't fix completely the issue with XCX. It goes back to 720p, but after 2-3 seconds it goes again to 1080p and stays there. Here is clean log

If you are doing this only by guessing from framebuffer, wouldn't be better to give option to user to decide for themselves? Only 2 resolutions matter in handheld - 1280x720 and 1920x1080. Though ReverseNX-RT allows forcing for very few games different resolutions so if that matters for you, you can add some way to manually input things?

Hey!

All of the games I've tried worked well, but I'm running into an issue with Fire Emblem : Three Houses only displaying a black screen in menus or glitched frames in-game.

Log and screencap of what I'm seeing in the viewer, tried changing for UVC/network and messing with most of the settings but nothing fixed this so far.

Sick work by the way, getting video out from a Lite feels kind of unreal :yay:

@masagrator thanks for the log. XCX keeps drawing outside the 720p corner even in handheld, so the picture check put it back to 1080p. The next version trusts the game's own picture size once it has reported 1080p, which should fix it. A manual 720p/1080p switch is a good idea, I'll add it if auto still misses games.
@kaani thanks! In Three Houses it picked the wrong memory block for the frames. Also fixed in the next version.
@darkskyVN about 46 ms from the game's frame to the PC screen in my tests (22 on the console, 24 on the PC). Press O in the viewer to see it live. I haven't measured SysDVR side by side.
@digdat0 thanks!

Haha thanks, I thought it was boring lol. It is just what the app does literally. It taps into the switch frames so they can be streamed
Hey! Quick question — would it be possible to have Switch Frame Tap save the 1080p60 H.264 recording directly to the Switch's microSD instead of sending it to the PC?

Basically: Game → Frame Tap → H.264 1080p60 → microSD

Is the SD write speed/encoding the limiting factor, or is this something that could realistically be added?

Hi, I found another bug.

Games that use the Web Applet, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, automatically crash when the Web Applet is opened. I realized that Switch Frame Tap was causing the issue after uninstalling it.

That's by design because sysmodule steals memory from Applet pool, there is no space to steal from it without breaking browser.

Hello, great project! I'm testing it right now on 20.3.0, and I found a bug. Paper Mario: The Origami King asks the player to select a profile after the game has started. However if Frame Tap is running, the console goes into a black screen. Shantae: Half Genie Hero and Va11-Halla also function this way, but I currently have neither to test.

EDIT: It seems to be....only sometimes? I managed to boot into the game on my second try.

Hopefully it's a fixable bug and not something related to my firmware.

I don't think that's the purpose of Frame Tap - Frame Tap is tapping into the Switch's native recording system which already does that (records to SD) and streams it to PC.

So you don't need Frame Tap for that, just use the Switch's recording feature and NX Share to get the recording.

@SooraMaru thanks, masagrator is right: the sysmodule keeps about 40 MB of the applet memory from the first game on, even with streaming off, and the web applet needs it. I'm working on a fix now: it will only take that memory while it's streaming and give it back when you stop, so the browser works whenever you're not streaming.
@DarkKRPG that could be the same thing, the profile picker is an applet too. Could you send config/switch-frame-tap/log.txt from a boot where it went black?
@kingboxnt could you send the log from a run where that happened? Was it the viewer's recording (R)?

You can also do me a favor and when user sets "stream" to off in overlay/homebrew, you stop using usb. I am using MTP sysmodule and this all the time blocks usb. :P
