Hacking Band Hero Update

Hi,

I just bought Band Hero (Wii), the entire bundle (guitar and drums). I have my Wii at 4.0U, Wii Key 2, and HBC (softmod) installed as well.

Since I have Preloader v0.29 installed, I disabled Disc updates, but whenever I tried to play Band Hero, there would be a black screen. Then I enable Disc updates and found out that I had to update my System menu in order to play Band Hero.

I'm assuming Band Hero disc contains 4.2U since it was released in Nov 2009, while 4.2U was released in Sept 2009. So I don't wanna update to 4.2U since it removes the HBC and other stuff too I'm assuming.

I'm willing to get a back up of it, use a USB loader, any suggestions welcome so that I can play Band Hero.

How can I play Band Hero?

Either run the game via Gecko OS or update all your IOS's via DOP-IOS.

I'm on 4.2u and I too get a black screen when trying to run Band Hero using Config usb loader v50c and Hermes 223 . But my problem seems to have started after switching from a wbfs partition to a fat 32 partion. When I had the game under wbfs partition I played Band Hero with this loader v46 and Hermes 223. Guess i'll give 222 a try though i'm unsure of how this would make a diff, seeing as how CFG loader uses 222 for playing all my nonband games. So it should stand to reason that 223 would be the ios for playing Band Hero.

You need Hermes installer, IOS 38 merged with IOS 37 for any of the music games to work. Whether you install that to slot 222 or 223 is up to you, just set your loader to pick whichever one you used for those games.

ok just double checked and using "the simplistic mod" I have IOS 38 merged with IOS 37 for Hermes 223.
So that can't be my prob cause that's the ios i'm loading the game with so it must be one of my other settings.

I just got DJ Hero for X-Mas which also required an update (I am currently running 3.4U), so I got myself prepared to update to 4.2 when I allowed the update. However, whatever it installed did not full update my system, only some sort of update to play the game. Still running 3.4U. Hope this helps.

I have mine at 4.1U after using Wannikoco updater 4.0 and then 4.1

For band hero install Hermes cios 222.....

I didn't have enough room on the SD card so it kept failing but not telling why... download yourself and then there is no issue...do merge 249 (default) then merge 38 with 37 with 222

1.Download NUS Downloader on your PC.
2.Copy the contents of the NUS Downloader zip file to a directory of your choice (e.g., c:/NUSD_dir) which will be referred to as from now on.
3.Use NUS Downloader to get IOS37 v3612:
1.Select title ID 0000000100000025 v3612
2.Ensure the Pack->WAD option is NOT checked
3.Click Start NUS Download!
4.Copy the contents of /0000000100000025v3612/ to sd:/00000001/00000025/V3612/
4.Use NUS Downloader to get IOS38 v3610:
1.Select title ID 0000000100000026 v3610
2.Ensure the Pack->WAD option is NOT checked
3.Click Start NUS Download!
4.Copy the contents of /0000000100000026v3610/ to sd:/00000001/00000026/V3610/
5.Use NUS Downloader to get IOS60 v6174:
1.Select title ID 000000010000003C v6174
2.Ensure the Pack->WAD option is NOT checked
3.Click Start NUS Download!
4.Copy the contents of /000000010000003Cv6174/ to sd:/00000001/0000003C/V6174/
6.Continue with the steps of "Installation procedure"

Run band hero with anti 002 and cios 222

works with usb loader gx...confirmed!

Is there a way I can just use the original Band Hero disc with USB Loader GX? I think I read somewhere that this is possible, but not exactly sure. I would rather not download a soft copy of it, but I can if needed.

USB Loader GX can install the game to the HD from your disc. Just click on the Install Game option and it will dump it for you.

If I run the update, I'll lose my HBC.
Not to mention that Band Hero most likely contains 4.2U since it was released in November 2009, while the update itself was released in September 2009.

So there is no way to play the game through a disc? Even if I install some cIOS's or anything like that?

i got it werking (DVD and USB) by install cios56 from cioscrop 3.6 and install multi-ios using 37 on 37 under 232. hope that helps, sorry i can't provide links.

Let it install the update, i got it for christmas aswell and found that the update is updating one of the ios and not the 4.2. Let it update ( It wont effect anything ) then install Hermes 222/223 like mentioned above and load it with 222, thats how i did mine and it works great

I did the update, worked!
Lol, I should've listened earlier I suppose.

And it stayed at 4.0U
