It'll be the full game in english, but you'll have to patch the ROM with a... patch, when they release it.

Why would it die, where did you get that idea that there is even a possibility for that! They update us with progress every once in a while..

Don't worry....it'll be completed!

you won't get a beta, and it won't die.
they are too far into the translation to quit without a VERY good reason.

Read some of the blog posts, and then you'll have an idea. I believe the event dialogue is doing well, but they're still editing it, and the skits are still being plowed through. You know Tales games, they have a lot of little skits.

Again, they estimate the release around the end of Summer '09, which isn't too far off if you've got something else to fill your time in between.

I don't see the project dying anytime soon. It'd take a catastrophe for that to happen.
And why do silly people keep asking for Betas when they're not gonna get it?

I just want to say that I think the releasing of quality patches a la Mother 3 and several others is a lot more valuable than a simple menu patch like the original poster had mentioned. Cheers!

I just tried this game yesterday or so... It's not too hard to make some progress without knowing japanese buuut... well it ruins the game experience if you do not even understand more than just some basics... (spoken I mean!)

But then, it was a good teaser of what awaits us!

I honestly can't wait to get the full translation, and I like the fact that you'd still have the japanese dubs, which are of a very good quality. (I truly lik them so far

)

Uh and I just NEED to find out something about one of the characters you get to know in the beginning. (the one last standing... he's pretty cool ^^) I just got me into a camp or something where that red haired girl (Iria? oO) runs off because of something. (I bet she's jealous of the other girl there heh!)

Anyway, I'll wait for the patch, and I can only say that I really respect the eford people put inot this, to make the game playable for everyone whose English is better than their japanese.

I mean... They don't even get money for it, and they do it in small groups of people while those companies have whole teams for it.

Being an impatient sock myself I can understand people that ask all the time, but then... they really need to understand that this is really hard work... I've tried to dig into rom translation myself and I didn't come that far. I don't have the knowledge you need to do it. And it should be obvious that only a few people out there who actually HAVE the knowledge put their efford in a project like this, and finally SHARE it with us. So we should thank them instead of nagging and or ranting or begging or stuff like that... ^^"

And then... like it was mentioned somewhere before, we should all stand up and get in contact with the game companies somehow, and beg them to release their games outside of Japan too. (I REALLY want to see Tales of Hearts coming out for the US or EU!!!

If you're still in that city at the beginning, you should have a walk all through it, until you reach somewhat like a sportsyard. After that well... go to the haven, and talk to the guy inside of the house. If you leave after that, you'll get to know a red haired girl. (Or better, you'll run straight into her xD)
After their talking and stuff you follow her back into town, just skip all the dialogues as you prolly won't understand it anyway, and after that you're free to leave the town.

On the map you'll have to do a little exploring and kill some mobs to lvl a bit. (well you could even skip that too, I didn't have a problem getting past that without cheats, so you#re good to go) Once you find a bridge, you should cross it. Another sequence of talking begins and then you can go further.
Well... a little exploring later you should run straight into the next sequence, being locked away afterwards. Tlak to all the people in your cell twice or as often as you have too. (Even to the guy outside the door) Otherwise the story won't progress. ^^
And well... then it's just fighting, fighting fighting until you reach some sort of camp.

That's what I got so far. It's not THAT hard to go on with the story, even if you can only understand a few words. It's just quite useless to play a game where you wouldn't know wha exactly is going on or what you have to do exactly. But as it's the same procedure in eeeevery RPG it's quite easy to make it anyway.

I hope that helped a little to get you off the start, but I'd assume to wait until summer to not ruin all the fun.

not for me, i just explore the place, like instead of crossing a bridge, i walk along the coast having a look at the terrain or if there's a cave in there, i just enter and enjoy myself, a huge part of any rpg is to explore the place and sometimes even if i know where that place is or where to go, i just take a long detour just to explore the place and search for any sidequest or side houses

Sure, I do that too, otherwise I wouldn't play RPGs. It's just that I want to know the story and read everything that's available, and that's out of question if I do not understand anything, So I'll just wait for the translation to be released and then I'm good to go and FULLY enjoy this wonderful game.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
