Last edited by Flame,
Does anyone know if there is a project to upgrade the 3DS snes9x emulator to support MSU1 being able to be loaded in? It might be possible on New 3DS models only, I am hearing through the grapevine that it might be too intensive for the 3DS.

I hardmodded my 3Ds using BrowserHax and everything was good for a while, then one day I tried to turn it on only for the backlight to turn on but just a black screen. If I take out the SD card, it will boot into Luma. If I try to get out of Luma, it will restart into the black screen.
I can't enter GodMode while having a SD card in, but I can enter it without the SD card. I just can't load any payload that could fix the problem because you need an SD card to do so.

What's going on?

Do you have Luma3DS as boot.firm on the root of your SD card? Boot9strap should automatically detect its presence and boot from that. Unless something is wrong with the card itself.

I don't think "hardmodded" means what you think it means. Also, I think you mean super-skaterhax.

Evidently there is something wrong with your SD card.

Standard procedure: copy everything off the SD card using Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier, format the card, and test the card with h2testw. If h2testw says the card is okay, then you can try copying everything back again; sometimes that is enough to fix things. If h2testw says the card has errors, then you should stop using the card.

Did what you said- still nothing. No card errors either. It's so confusing because it seemingly happened out of nowhere. It has nothing to do with the content of the SD card since I tried starting from fresh to no avail. Can't access the regular menu /home screen at all /can't escape the Luma menu if the SD card it out.
It is a 2Ds XL btw. Shouldve clarified. I bought it, modded it, and then a couple weeks later this all happened. It was new in the box.

How did you format the card? The best way to be sure it is formatted correctly is to use Godmode9.

That is frequently how SD card problems arise.

If there's nothing wrong with the SD card, then it is possible there is something wrong with the SD card reader. But you should probably try another SD card to be sure.

You may also try the other solutions at https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Black_screen_unbrick , such as 3ds_hw_test or ctrcheck.

Thank you. I went down the list and did every section to no avail (I cant even enter Godmode if I have my SD card in), and I got down to the New Camera Brick. Did that, and instead of the "qtm" process name, it is "gsp", what does that mean? According to the section my problem is unusual and that I need to ask the Discord for further assistance, which I did, but in case I dont get a response Im responding here as well.
This is how it looks.

If I'm not gravely mistaken, you can leave your SD card out, start Godmode9, and then insert your SD card, if you wanted to try formatting it that way.

I guess that means you can read. ^_^ I don't think anyone here is likely to know more about that issue – you can search around and see for yourself. I do see someone else mentioned it at https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-noob-paradise-ask-questions-here.359035/page-2679#post-10322273 . Did you try the 3ds_hw_test?

Hello :P
I am currently trying to patch Beyond The Labyrinth following the instructions found in Gamebrew to make a CIA and play it in my 3DS.

The instructions seem simple, but I am unable to find the file with the proper HASH listed in the instructions, so I keep getting a xdelta3 error with invalid input, or I don't know if I am doing something wrong in the process since I can't ask directly in the original thread since it was closed.

There also is a Luma patch done by someone but my knowledge of how that work is null, my understanding is that is a Luma Patch that is applied over the game whenever you launch it, but I want to have the game patched itself in .cia format.

If someone could provide instructions or a bit of orientation in the process of patching the game I would appreciate it

I have a flashcard for my DS games. But any game played through it obviously shows up in the Activity Log as the fake game the flashcard pretends to be. Is there anyway to create forwarders that point to the games on the flashcard that doesn't have the reduced compatibility of Twilight Menu or at least can be done entirely on the console (don't need to go on PC to make .cia files one-by-one for DS games as I play them)?

Or is there anyway homebrew software for DS/DSi that serves as another Activity Log when playing DS games maybe?

My 3DS broke and there is no way to repair it, I was playing Pokémon Emerald while that was happening but I never extracted the game, I understand that injected Game Boy saves are saved in the sysnand, that's what decryption takes care of, luckily I had a backup to get the mobile.sed and the other thing I need is the boot9.bin file, but I don't have that, I necessarily require that file for decryption, I understand that it is a universal file, do you know if there is anywhere where I can download it? I can't find it anywhere and I would like to be able to recover my games, thank you very much.

My 3D Camera is acting weird after a shellswap. I did not damage any of the ribbon cables but I can't be 100% sure. On the internet I found that if you do a safe recovery update there is a chance that it might be fixed but because my 3dsll is region changed I cannot boot into the safe recovery mode. Blue and yellow light comes but the screens are compleatly black.
Every other function of the console works.

Also when I try to use the QR reader or the Outer camera calibration, the camera comes alive for some reason. Except the right camera and the inner camera does not work.

I'm not so sure you understand. Injected GBA games (not Game Boy saves in general) store their save data in the NAND, but if your 3DS is really broken, then there is no way of accessing the NAND unless you do some kind of wacky hardware mod. Did you think "saved in the sysnand" meant that you could recover it from the SD card..? Or were you regularly backing up your NAND? (Because if you only backed up your NAND when you installed CFW, naturally that backup won't contain any save data you made since then.)

If your 3DS is still partially operational, then you should retrieve your GBA save data using Godmode9.

Well, if your cameras were working properly before the shell swap, then that suggests you did something wrong when you did the shell swap, does it not..?

GBA VC saves are not stored in the NAND permanently, most of the time they're stored on SD card, same as GBA injects themselves.
The saves are loaded into SysNAND's AGBSAVE partition at AGB_FIRM's launch and are exported back to SD upon exiting, hence why a proper reboot into NATIVE_FIRM is mandatory to prevent savedata loss.
Obviously, such saves are in different format compared to those from "regular" 3DS games, and none of existing save managers seem support them yet (although there's a PR for Checkpoint in the works), except for the special GBAVCSM script for GodMode9.

@ManhattanCafe, if you have no way of running GM9 but do indeed still have your movable.sed and the SD card you were using with that 3DS, it should be possible to extract your Pokémon save manually with a hex editor, as long as you manage to decrypt it (if you're sure you don't have a boot9 dump, google for "[BIOS] Nintendo 3DS ARM9 Boot ROM (World)", you might find something relevant on IA if you have an account there).

It's been so long since I have played around with 3DS's so I may as well ask in this topic:

Does anyone know how to get rid of this blank icon that appears in the end of the icon row even after a system format? It's not the H&S app. All it does is crash the system when I try to open it.

That's probably not supposed to be there.

Is it still there if you turn on the system without an SD card? And is your unit region-changed?

Yeah, it's there even without the SD card, and no, I haven't changed the region. Is there a way to install FBI with just the Rosalina menu, maybe I can delete it that way?

I thought about selling this unit but the potential buyer probably wouldn't be thrilled with this on the system haha
