Translating what the crew says before and after every mission is point less. Best you translate
-Menu
-Controls Menu
-Briefing Menu
-Tatical Support discriptions
-Mission Objectives
-Pause Menu
(optional) Gunpla Navi

When your done, you should translate a SD Gundam G-Generation series, or the up commming Emblem of Gundam (rumors say it is half english, from the trailer and some sources.)

Personally, I can play it as it is. The reading is fairly lax as well, just waiting for someone to get me the decrypted files in human readable format. The interface terms are fairly common, if you play many Japanese games, and the voiced scenes as you said, are pointless for translation. Their very easy to understand for someone who dedicates a little time.

Of course, then there's the dialog within the missions.

WRONG. The menus and stuff are easy pie, it's all in english anyways, just quit being lazy and look at the katakana chart on wiki.

now, as for the between mission dialogue...that's hard, not to mention essential, and it's 3/4 kanji, which is just about alien to me (and the rest of us).

so basically, i'm saying you're going about this backwards.

I hope that this will succeed, I like this game, but a translation for certain areas, such as a menu would help. The kanji is a lot though, so no pressure.

Please don't double post. As you see, we already have a temporary forum and a server, we are just waiting for our rom hacker to get the scripts. If you know how to rom hack, you may assist in this endeavor.

getting the scripts is fairly easy, i just can't workout the pointer format of the archive the texts are in, which means we can't reinsert them at the moment. I could go through and dump them out fairly easily but as of this moment i cant reinsert them, well without constraining to the original text sizes :S

Nope. You only need to be able to run the software. I could run hex editors on my old Pentium 3 700MHz, if that counts. However, the scripts shouldn't consume too much space beyond the size of the game itself, really.
