Yep, the earliest supported FW is 4.75, so it's the same to update to 4.92. Nothing is gained staying at 4.66 and nothing is lost updating to 4.92.Hello again, I was wondering if I need to update a ps3 form version 4.66 to 4.92 to use ps3 toolset?

Thanks, man. My ps3 is coming friday and i was just looking in to finding some backups to use when it arrives and i softmod it, but the Im using is a 4tb HDD and I seem to not be able to format it into fat32 due to the limit be 2tb, tho i seen ppl talking about getting 3 and 4tb drives on fat32 but i am not sure how to, wondering if anyone could provide any insight into this.Yep, the earliest supported FW is 4.75, so it's the same to update to 4.92. Also if i install games on an external drive, does it matter what format they are in inside of the GAMES folder, cause i have found games in iso format and folders, but im not sure if i have to convert them into iso's or smth elseYep, the earliest supported FW is 4.75, so it's the same to update to 4.92. Also also, does multiman even need fat32 or can it use NTFS?Thanks, man. ISOs go to PSxISO folders, folder format ones usually into GAMES. Both should be usable without any conversion. Dunno about Multiman (not sure if it's even developed anymore) as Webman mod or ManaGunz does all I need - and both should support NTFS natively. TBH only used internal drive on my PS3's, but Webman mod has NTFS support built in, might need installing in full mode though (IIRC pressing L1+R1 while starting and doing the install). Also if i install games on an external drive, does it matter what format they are in inside of the GAMES folder, cause i have found games in iso format and folders, but im not sure if i have to convert them into iso's or smth else

so the best option would just be getting a 1tb ssd, putting it in the ps3 and using ftp?ISOs go to PSxISO folders, folder format ones usually into GAMES. Both should be usable without any conversion. That's how I do my setups, but YMMV - some people claim spinners are more reliable than SSD's on PS3, so maybe safer getting "traditional" 1Gb drive instead of SSD if going that route. (Haven't yet gotten time for trying to set the s-bit for PS3 SSD and checking what happens.)so the best option would just be getting a 1tb ssd, putting it in the ps3 and using ftp?
thanks, i ordered a 1tb hdd to install today, and i think im all setThat's how I do my setups, but YMMV - some people claim spinners are more reliable than SSD's on PS3, so maybe safer getting "traditional" 1Gb drive instead of SSD if going that route. Can't really give you answers written in stone as all of us have different needs - for me 1Tb is more than plenty and I don't remove much stuff from my SSD's. For your use case everything might be different. You might like Multiman or Managunz instead of Webman mod unlike me. Play with the system, try different loaders etc. and find your way of enjoying PS3 and what it has to offer![]()
Into the dev_hdd0/PS2ISO folder.Where must I copy the PS2ISOS from my NTFS HDD to the PS3=
Is there a way to copy the ISOs via Mutliman or something similar? As I have a NTFS formatted HDD with the Isos and Multiman seems not to recognize the HDD. FTPing would take ages for me.Into the dev_hdd0/PS2ISO folder.
Use ManaGunZ's file browser, it recognizes NTFS.Is there a way to copy the ISOs via Mutliman or something similar? As I have a NTFS formatted HDD with the Isos and Multiman seems not to recognize the HDD.
I've only used converted ISOs with PS2 BIN-2-ISO v0.1, but BIN/CUE may possibly work as PS1 games do in the /PSXISO folder. Are PS2ISos just iso or can I use bin, cue too. MAybe I have to convert them to iso?
Thank you! I will try and look for 21s or 20s instead! HEN sounds great but are there any real differences between CFW and HEN except when talking about HEN needing to be reactivated every boot?Buying 25xx blindly is really matter of luck. The only sure way of checking the CFW compatibility is running minverchk or bgtoolset on the unit. On Euro models datecode can help, but even then there is slight possibility of the unit being refurbished one. Of course, there is always the HEN option.

If you're just looking for the basics - ripping/playing back-ups, some control over the system, FTP, etc - both do the same thing. CFW allows for some low-level control and swapping between consumer and developer firmware versions, but to my knowledge they essentially serve the same purpose, with HEN requiring a few more clicks and flicks of the thumbstick/Dpad to activate.Thank you! Actually Sony used most if not all of the FreeBSD 9.0 UFS2 with encryption alongside with FBSD kernel on PS3. Unless Sony ripped the TRIM support off it should be there and in that case work when setting the drive S-bit. Something I've been planning to test but first need to do some swapping around in order to make my 2501 the daily driver and my old phat more or less dev/test machine....Sony used their own proprietary file system, wherein they did not anticipate anyone using a drive larger than 1TB (which was admittedly humongous in 2007). This is guesswork, but it makes sense, however much it irks me to admit so.

Got an odd situation. My old PS3 died over ten years ago, which was cool. I actually found all my backed up save files today - thought I lost them forever. They look as though they were copied from the hard drive itself. Question: How would I convert these to my recent PS3? It looks like I had a PS3 save game convert tool in the past.

I can use the tool to re-sign my old PS3 saves? Apollo wasn't available back when my old PS3 died - I was on 3.56 rebug I think. You need a hacked PS3 and Apollo Save Tool for PS3.
