Using

SimpleDE v1.5
FW: 7
K: 1.05

and it seems my REV.B EzFlash Omega DE has lost its speedhack/turbo on Analogue firmware v2.4?

I haven't played my Pocket in a few months but Golden Sun isn't getting sped up.
Seems with "addon" boot I can only open the menu and LOAD / SAVE / RESET.

The EZFlash Omega FAQ Hotkeys page say L+START should be the combination.

Is turbo/speedhack/fastforward working for anyone else? How do I get it back?

I kept getting a white screen on all the Demos and extra emulators in the SYSTEM/PLUG folder. After a long while of fiddling with settings I learned that the real time clock setting must be enabled for the plugins to work correctly. Just posting here in case it helps someone.

Does seriously no one know how to get the turbo/fast-forward back? This thing is basically useless imo without it.

Well EzFlash team have started ignoring my emails about this issue. Absolutely not a good look at all.

I don't see a fast forward or turbo function listed for the omega DE, and I doubt that is something they will implement now after all this time. not really sure any blame is with them either

Neither the EZflash omega, nor the omega DE have a fast forward feature. That would probably be impossible to implement on a flash card level at all, as the cart itself does not run the game, the CPU in your GBA (or Our case the Analogue Pocket) does.

Are you mixing up an Analogue Pocket feature here?

This is absolutely not true at all. EZFlash got back to me. They have removed the feature silently without telling anyone in an update. Even if you or other people didn't notice, it was there for years even if no one bothered to read the manual. I used it all the time. I had to email them every single day for them to realise I wouldn't stop without getting an explanation.

Because they did this and for such ridiculous reason instead of making it a toggle option like so many other other have done, and only did they update everything on their site after I complained. They agreed to me returning the flash cart. It is completely useless without this feature and it is the only reason why I bought it and not an Everdrive. If I wanted 1x speed GBA, I could just use an FPGA core or emulator. I bought this specifically for 2x speed FPGA.

Looks like the only option now is waiting for Budude2 to hopefully finish his GBA core someday.

BOTH had the feature. They disabled it on both. Check the above reply. It's honestly crazy how few people really understand this, and I absolutely cannot fathom why they would remove a working feature just because in their arguing; some devices cannot supply enough power and it was "confusing". It should have been an option to toggle on/off in the BIOS, with a warning about power consumption. No ones device ever died from using this feature. So removing it is just plain idiotic business reasoning as usual. I'm absolutely sick to death of seeing companies do this and they don't even have the balls to announce it publicly. Yet instead leave their users feeling gaslit. Tidal Music did the same thing removing crossfade as a feature and their reasoning was "Oh not that many people used it". That is not a reason to remove a perfectly working function.

I'll be sending the cart back for a refund first thing Monday morning for a refund.
Will probably send the money immediately to budude2 to support his work on the GBA core.

I have never seen an option to speed up the game on the flashcard, nor have I ever seen it advertised.

I went back through their user manual as far back as 2018 using archive.org (and I've checked a handfull of archived pages between then and now), and I simply can not find any mention of any such feature.

Can you tell us which page (URL) you saw that information posted in the past?

Hi Stereophonic, I just came back and updated to your latest kernel.
  1. Copy the SYSTEM and BACKUP folder to the root of the SD Card.
  2. Move your IMGS, SAVER, RTS, and PATCH folders to SYSTEM.
  3. If you want the light theme, copy ezkernel-light.bin to the root of the SD Card. If you want the dark thing, do the same with ezkernel-dark.bin
  4. Rename the new kernel file to ezkernel.bin
  5. You're done!
I have always have the saver folder under system, seems that your latest have moved it back to root. There might be a bug, if you dont mind checking? I am using the Ez-flash omega firmware at version 9

---
Never mind, seem I have to hold R on boot to flash your kernel to the card. I hope you can update your kernel to 1.10 same as official. I don't know if the Upgrade FatFs library to v0.15 will help fix the issue with corrupted save files.

Ty for the support of the custom firmware so far.

Is there, or will there be a revision of the Omega version of the cfw kernel based on official kernel 1.10 which released in september?

I had issues with jagoomba saves and file corruption on version 3.7 a while back. After trying several fixes I ended up rolling back to the 3.45 kernel and later side loaded jagoomba. It worked. No further filesystem corruption and jagoomba saves restore after power cycling. I couldn't get GBAGI working to play space quest, but my workaround was stable and I haven't updated since... until today.

I heard about the new official firmware for omega that made jagoomba the default embedded emulator. I had never gone back to official firmware because I liked the cfw and didn't want to lose the very nice extra features or have to reorganise my file system. Having embedded jagoomba working properly without a janky workaround was the thing that finally made me update. Even GBAGI is working!

Which brings me back to this... Will there be a new release of Simple using the 1.10 kernel, or has the 3.7 version been updated already? 3.7 never worked for me for whatever reason. It corrupted an SD card to read only, breaking all save functionality. Testing after replacing the card and restoring backup found the jagoomba emu not restoring gamesaves after a power cycle. Attempts to side load jagoomba v0.5 via the /SYSTEM/PLUG folder seemed to work, but quickly led to filesystem corruption and another format & restore backup.

If 3.7 has been updated with the new 1.10 kernel, or if a new version releases based on it, I would be very happy to get my cfw features back. If not, I may have to stay on official firmware. Sterophonick said in his latest DE release post that "- Omega users do not need to update." I needed to update.

Bring up the in-game menu (L+R)
Somewhere in there, you can select the system to be emulated, switch to GBC.
Then select "reset" from the in-game menu
