"CTGP Deluxe" mod for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now

The days of Wii modding brought forth a big number of diverse entries, from New Super Mario Bros. mods and its recreations of past titles or entirely new maps and gameplay, to Super Smash Bros. Brawl and its still strong mod scene with new fighters, maps, music and almost everything in the game, to also Mario Kart Wii mods, which prompted the inception of the now widely known "CTGP" named hacks for anything Mario Kart.

Since then, CTGP mods for Mario Kart titles have been available for each entry of the series since, with Wii being the first one, then Mario Kart 7 (CTGP-7) and now for Mario Kart 8, which is based on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for this mod, titled "CTGP Deluxe".

This new CTGP entry adds entirely new tracks to the original Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which range from past Mario Kart tracks from the SNES, GBA, 3DS and other older entries, to tracks from other racing franchises, like Diddy Kong Racing, new tracks inspired by levels from other non-racing games, like Sonic Unleashed, to entirely new custom maps made exclusively for this CTGP DX release.

CTGP Deluxe adds 14 new cups, with 56 additional custom tracks and an all-new soundtrack with brand new features, and is available for download right now for those interested in trying it out in either their own hacked Switch, or through an emulator, at the CTGP Deluxe website, with install instructions available on the site as well.

I wonder if this makes this the most definitive Mario Kart Experience as a whole! (I hope it includes everything in terms of the Retro Tracks.)
Not yet but it could get there. Theoretically. At least they've got their menu hack to add tracks on top rather than replacing the stock ones which sets them apart from all previous MK8D mods. I dunno whether there's a technical limit of tracks somewhere. At least I've seen Mario Kart Wii mods with over 400 tracks.

Something that I've wished for is for Mario Kart Double Dash to have a mod where it's essentially the same game but it includes Retro Tracks from Mario Kart Arcade GP 1, 2, and Mario Kart games before it. I know that people are making tracks for the game now (which is great), but most of them include tracks from newer games which tbh, doesn't really fit into the scope of the game. Although having tracks directly tied to games that released at the time would be awesome.

Yeah, it's a layeredfs mod like any other.

Well, you can pretty easily switch between modded and unmodded by holding the L button while starting the game.

No, they didn't. DLC tracks are gone. Although I don't know why, because they technically added two more cups than booster pass offered, so it must absolutely have been possible to add their own cups on top of base game and booster pass. The whole selection screen is different. I don't get why they just didn't add their tracks on top of the booster pass tracks instead of removing them altogether.

Probably just to make the mod compatible with people who don't own the booster pass. Although that should, on a hacked console, probably be close to zero users.
dlc tracks are still there on my end, did you push X at the track select?

I have it loading no probs on yuzu android however I can't access the custom courses... X and Y do nothing!!

I can also run it with just the romfs folder, the exefs folder just refuses to load where ever i put it. Anyone familiar with this at all?

I've been waiting for that for so long

And I'm not disappointed. It's just great. Well ... Actually I wish there was the Minecraft track, but that's about it. I do love that finally, people have found a way to add cups instead of replacing tracks

Some tracks definitely look « sub-par » but I don't mind at all. There are tracks that look absolutely great, MUCH better than the official DLCs in fact.

And kinda impressed by the fact that it shows the music when starting the race (and on the last lap) ... I first thought it was just added on the trailer, but nope, it's in game

It just immediately became mandatory to have it on a modded Switch

Just to repeat what I said in the discord server re yuzu android and had confirmation from the dev that its a yuzu issue and as such will never be resolved. Thanks to @Fyrus also...

The mod will load with the romfs folder however access to the custom courses is unavailable as X and Y are unresponsive. The exefs folder will refuse to load. So a vanilla game with the menu aesthetics and music mods is all that is achievable unfortunately.
