The remastered version of Shadows of the Damned, the 2011 PS3/Xbox 360 action-adventure title developed by Goichi “Suda51” Suda-led Grasshopper Manufacture, is coming to current-gen platforms in a few months' time. Publisher NetEase Games has unveiled the launch date with a new trailer:

Shadows of the Damned is an action-adventure game taking place in a super-eccentric “Hell + rock & roll”-themed world, originally released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

The game takes players on a wild ride with demon hunter Garcia Hotspur, as he kicks demon ass and makes his way through the darkest depths of Hell, lighting up the darkness with his burning passion on a mission to rescue his true love from an insidious demon king.

Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered expands the classic with a number of features:
  • New Costumes: In addition to Garcia’s iconic jacket, “Purple Reign”, there are now four new costumes to choose from: Placa Garcia, Ocho Corazones, Demonio Garcia and Kamikaze Garcia
  • Now includes New Game+ Mode: A feature requested since the original release, the Hella Remastered edition includes a New Game+ mode! This mode carries your weapons and upgrades over from your last playthrough into a new game, jam-packing those replays with hella power.
  • 60fps/4K Support: Hell has never looked so good. Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered lets you experience the game in silky-smooth 60 frames per second, as well as supporting resolutions up to 4K, allowing you to appreciate every bone fragment and blood splatter. Switch supports up to 30fps; 4K is supported on PS5 / Xbox X / Steam only.
Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered launches on PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this October 31st

Every time I hear about these new games for ps5 etc. I'm so glad I skipped this generation of consoles.

Very very excited for this. Loved this game and couldn't believe nothing was ever done with it!
There are some Remaster and / or sequel hints of this game in Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, so this has probably been in the works for a while. The original was also delisted in June 2020, quite abruptly in the middle of a summer sale, so I take there was some licensing shenanigans that needed settled.

It's a Halloween game. How can you not expect it to release in Fall?
Not what I said: I said I didn't expect THIS to be the Autumn of Suda/Grasshopper remasters plural. Because yes, I do think it's a pleasant surprise that were getting remasters/rereleases of two classic Grasshopper games so close to one another, between SotD and Lollipop Chainsaw.

Well-actuallying people doesn't make you seem clever, btw.

Very different games. Perfectly normal to release them near each other.

It annoys me when they keep re releasing the same games we ready own an claim they're "remastered" when they're not.

Porting over the same game to better hardware and upscaling it is not remastering.

Its the same game you likely already own and are given the false impression that the devs have remastered the game.

Nintendo fanboys be glad to finally get their hands on a great game, but these are the type of games when nintendo fail to get in the first place, but the fanboys contradict claiming these games aren't fun blah blah just because they're in denial.

So even worse that yet again nintendo versions claim it to be a remaster when it'll be more like a disaster, not even close to its so called remaster port and be a poor direct port of its original release you can buy for a few quid.

A remaster would be if they physically remastered the games base textures.

But they dont.

When I emulate Conkers Bad Fur Day in 4k resolution, which does look far superior to the original, but this isnt a remaster.

I am currently playing Metal Gear Solid 4 via RPCS3 in 4K resolution, which again looks far superior to its original.

That doesn't make it remastered.

In fact, I can easily play this game if I wanted on either the PS3 or 360 emulator (though I don't know why I haven't yet tried Xbox emulators ever in my life).

And it'll highly likely look no different to this so called "remaster"

And I am doing so for FREE.

This is where the gaming industry is getting shit, far too many devs recycling the same games we already own.

And what makes it worse is that todays gamers are like sheep and gladly keep buying these lazy cash cow ports.

Same sheep that keep funding all of this digital only crap.

Its going to destroy console gaming, where the gamer is getting fuck all, the companies and devs are maximising their profits and cutting its costs to the fullest.

And the easiest way of doing this is cutting costs by putting a stop to releasing games physically and making it all digital only.

And these sheep are blindly throwing their money at them are the problem.

It's not a bad game, but I'm convinced they're going to remake every game that ever came out one day.

I just can't imagine the high volume of people buying this really, but who knows maybe I'm wrong.

There's not really a good Xbox 360 emulator yet, Xenia can play very few games from start to finish. RPCS3 has way better compatibility like 60% last I checked, Xenia is probably like 5% if that. Xemu original Xbox emulator has heavily improved over the last few years and can play most original Xbox games.
