What Fallout game should I start with?

Well the first one is one the more harder installments in the series, so I recommend 3 or New Vegas to get the feel of it then 4 if you want some more.
Fallout New Vegas is my personal favorite, probably the best game I've ever played. Fallout 3 and 4 are pretty good. but Fallout 1 and 2 are a bit harder to get into - they are amazing games once you figure out how to navigate through them.
Since you now own a PS3, Fallout 3, or New Vegas, since they are on PS3. Fallout 4 is my favorite but its on newer systems.

I don't know my Fallout, but I've been considering the same question. Some say 1 and 2 are the "real" entries with New Vegas being the "true successor." Others think 3 and 4 are the best. Some just go with all of them.
What I really want to know is if turrets really are useless. I haven't watched the Fallout show, but I've seen the bit where Michael Emmerson does a Solid Snake walk through turret fire (with a dog). Not a scratch on either of them. I want to know if that really was a nod to the games.

No that was just for the show. In the game, you will get torn up by the turrets, unless you destroy them or turn them off using a computer. You can also install turrets in your own settlements for your own defenses against enemies.
Fallout 3 puts you right into the action with some great FPS/WRPG gameplay and I think has a better dialogue system than FO4. FO4 does also have some nice quality of life improvements over FO3 though, in part due to being 7 years newer. Never played New Vegas but I hear a lot of love for it and it's high on my list to check out eventually.
I hear the "Viva New Vegas" mod pack/guide is very very worthwhile for new New Vegas playthroughs, too. Food for though.

I started with 2, loved it. Then 1, loved that. Then Tactics, wasn't a fan. Kind of lost interest in gaming after that but did play 3, some of NV, they were okay. 4 I didn't like, cheap radiant quests. If you didn't like 1 then Fallout probably isn't for you.

before this recent stuff happened google was throwing around the idea of buying them out and presumably monetizing it. there would be a ton of stuff they would immediately take down too.
