Funnyplaying? I just got one last week too :gba:
No. Some cheapy I found on aliexpress. It’s a 1800 mah battery. I’m just trying it out now. I had to cut up the battery bay quite a bit, but it fits well now.

I just noticed. With AA’s, if the power switch is bumped, the light will flicker green to red. With this battery, there is no flicker. I think it’s because this battery is 3.7 volts. The AA’s are 1.2 volts each, in series. That’s 2.4 volts. The 1.3 extra volts must not be that harmful to the gba.

What is the capacity of your battery? I see the funnyplaying photo, it’s 2000mah, but the listing says 1800mah.

Spring failed on the latch mechanism. Installed new high tech deadbolt and matching handle. Now, I’m looking to see how to rekey a barrel lock cylinder. Never stop learning. I’ve never done this before.

Refinishing the door will be a mess and I’d rather pay a professional for that task. I’m not ready to learn that.

Finally put the New DVD Player in my laptop.

Found what was wrong with the original one. Didn't see that on the laptop eBay site, or when it first came.

Just installed usb ports for the second row passengers. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and finally just ordered the part and did it!

I tapped in to the cigarette lighter port to feed this. Fishing the wire under the carpet wasn’t too bad. The hardest part was fitting this in a place that is easy to access. The port is so low because of the cup holders. I didn’t have a whole lot of room there.

Had a spare Famicom board, without a shell. Shells go for way too much (around the price of an entire console), so when one popped up at a reasonable price, I jumped on the occasion.

Only problem

It is a very rusty boy.

In fact, I did also get the incredibly rusty main board originally housed in this thing, but it might be too far gone. Especially since someone stole the CPU, PPU and RAM off it.

But, no matter, the shell is what matters, as, again, I have another board. So, I began vinegaring:

A lot of scrubbing with a toothbrush and a lot of q-tips later, and it's clean. Even the really rusty spring mechanism cleaned somewhat well.

Thing is, it was just a shell. No controllers.
I did happen to have a single 1 player controller left, so it went in, but that left me without controller 2.
Replacements are, again, quite pricey, so, for the time being, I got this super cheapo famiclone 9-pin controller styled like a Famicom one, and just soldered it in. There's no microphone, but that's not a huge problem. It works. And the final product looks quite nice if I do say so myself.

As for the rusty main board... I do have some famiclone CPU and PPUs, so perhaps its time shall come.

Zelda Game & Watch hacking, phase 1 complete:

20230419_142623.jpg

No soldering for now, was just holding the Dupont cables in place, worked well enough. Didn't upgrade the flash storage yet, so this is the two Oracle games and the emulator crammed into the original storage along with the original firmware with its two NES games (monochrome Link's Awakening has been removed for now), and its funky clock and old-school g&w game.

Phase two when I'm confident with my soldering will be to replace the flash with a 16MB chip, hopefully connect the data points to the USB connector so I can reflash without opening it up, and to load it up with Link's Awakening DX as well as the Oracles, plus some funky Zelda and Zelda-themed ROM hacks I've been looking at (and one I've been working on myself) - and of course the Game & Watch emulator with all the classic LCD games. I also saw on discord that someone is working on porting the source recreation of ALTTP to run on these G&Ws natively, it's not full speed yet but if it ends up looking playable then that's definitely going on!

be careful with the spi flash when you remove it. some broke the pads. maybe ill hack one of my g&w again, as i still use a non-public emulator, which only emulate some g&w, tiger, konami titles

Thanks, yeah I'm gonna see if I can find something with comparable chips to practice on first. Must have at least one dead phone kicking about.

Nice clear shell.
You can find them on AliExpress. :)

Going to install an OpenXenium modchip inside of this OG Xbox.

Early mobo revision even, this is version 1.1. Time to replace those caps. 👀

I just got my truck back from the last accident that injured me. Literally just got it back about two weeks ago. Well, its going back to the body shop. Some butthole decided his phone was more important than paying attention to the road and ran a red lilght. Thankfully I was paying attention, so I was pretty quick on the breaks or it would have smashed right into my door.

Thankfully nobody was hurt. But my truck is about to be "fixed" again, so here we are posting photos of before.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
