Yep you will find it here

https://www.mediafire.com/file/vb7ynb456wt98av/Sonic_Wii_U_Decomps.zip/file

Check the readme In the zip for more info

The above like was supplied by @MikaDubbz in another thread so don't forget to say thank to them :rofl2:

I tested them earlier they seem to be exactly the same versions I already have, no updates.

Also I can’t seem to be able to exit from Sonic CD back to the HBL though other than that it seems to work fine, even my edited Sonic CD videos run fine as I restored the vocals to the Japanese audio before which was even used in the 3DS port

Hopefully Sonic 1&2 will eventually be updated to support saving.

Screw saving! I would just like the menu to be visible and operational :yayu:

I got told on Discord that there are mods for RSDKv4 (Sonic Forever & Sonic 2 Absolute) which happen to include 2D menus that actually work on Wii U. This is great since I don't have to fix the 3D ones :P

I didn't know there was an issue with saving, I'll have to check on that. Would y'all be mad if I made them .wuhbs?

Could you also do .rpx? I suppose the Wii U modding world is moving on to Aroma, and eventually I will too, but for now, I like what TIramisu can currently do for me over Aroma.

Yeah, since I can't put the .rsdk into the .wuhb anyway, may as well ship both.

I personally use tiramisu I haven’t used aroma yet personally, is it too much to ask for a rpx file too at least?

@QuarkTheAwesome could it be possible to include the 2d menu or would we have to recompile one with the mod? I'm not really getting how mods work with no menu screens lol!

And a big thank you for your efforts btw!
It appears you’re having troubles, perhaps these codes can help you, they work the same as Sonic Origins and sega did make a video about them post release but honestly I discovered most of them on my own before the official video.

Edit: you can use the code for Super Sonic in Sonic 1 as well, just make sure you set the chaos emeralds count to 7 BEFORE you enter the code.

Same code also works in Sonic 3 and Knuckles (in Sonic Origins) but you need to enter it twice if you want Hyper Sonic.

Edit 2: I forgot to mention, in Sonic 2 after you enter level select go to the sound test and play track 00 three times it’ll bring up the settings menu where you can change your character and the type of shields you want.

Also if you play any music track from 0-7 then pick special stage it’ll send you to the corresponding special stage (+1) where you can practice, so track 0 takes you to special stage 1, track 4 takes you to special stage 5, track 6 takes you to special stage 7, and track 7 takes you to the secret special stage 8, this works on Sonic 1, 2, and 3 (not Sonic CD though playing track 07 07 takes you to the secret special stage automatically) but keep in mind Sonic 3 and Knuckles has 16 special stages.

For the mods, I believe you just put them on your SD card and set an .ini, I'll have to double-check (I haven't investigated it too closely yet)

Just a heads-up on this: Sonic 2 Absolute mod will crash if you go in-game > main menu > in-game at least 4 or 5 times. I discovered this bug while modifying the options and going back to the game.

The Sonic 1 Forever mod never worked for me, after pressing start at the title screen it just freezes, I guess I need a specific rpx or data.rsdk?

same the S1 Forever mod never worked for me either, even making a .ini file for it. Made a similar .ini for Sonic 2 Absolute and it worked but i never discovered that crash.

I would have loved for the Remastered EX menus to work on both games, as they are small, look really good, and complement it perfectly, but they also didn't work on the U port, at least for me.

How can you get the animated cutscene(s) to play out on the wii u? I'm using the megathread zip posted here and it doesnt play even though the files are in the correct place.

EDIT: Nvm it plays now lol, but can i convert a mp4 file of the opening (crush 40s version) into OGV to play also?

It should play from the extras menu, I’m not currently on Wii U to check but I know this build isn’t as updated as Mania, it still has several issues.

Honestly I’d be fine with the basic black with white tex menus we had on the 3DS and PS Vita I just wanted a proper menu with save functionality.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too

yes looks like an faulty sd

@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards
