Nintendont - 6.489

USB Loader GX - 3.0 r1272

WiiFlow - 5.5.2

Homebrew Channel 1.13
Thank you,everything is ok.

For the USBLoader GX,
please check in the Global Settings - Loader Settings - the Loader´s IOS - it should be 58.
If it is already 58 please change it to 249 and restart the Loader to see if your HDD is now recognized.
Thank you.

Can you please give as an sysCheck too ?
https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/
Or do you maybe know your installed cIOSes 249 / 259 and Bases ?

And,by the Way,which Modding Guide do you have used to mod the vWii please ?

Thank you.😉

I'll do that and get back to you. For your question I've been following various guides, correlating between them all. I started with a Tiramisu YT guide as well as Wii Hacks Guide. I used this video up to the WUP Installer bit:

I'm not sure what NAND Access means? I've already used NAND before to backup my stuff so it should still be on. Is there a place in Nintendont or another app where I can give access to NAND? Maybe something I haven't selected?

You're asking me to do this but I've followed the vWii modding guide already and as stated before everything is working and detected apart from the USB. If it's the Homebrew Channel I'm not sure how to get it to read it's installed if I've been using it since I started modding my Wii U.

Thank you.:)

Then try one,two USB Sticks or Flash Drives or something like that.
Format it with FAT32 please.
Put 2 - 3 Games with the WiiBackupManager on it please and try it on both of the two Back USB Ports.

See if that works please.:)

No, not everything is working:
Weirdly it says the Homebrew Channel isn't installed when I know for a fact it is.
Also, as @Alexander1970 pointed out: Your IOS looks weirdly pathed so it's highly recommended to start over from scratch. Feel free to ignore this advise, too, but here are the steps:
  1. Disable Tiramisu coldboot.
  2. https://gbatemp.net/threads/vwii-decaffeinator-restore-vwii-without-a-nand-backup.566252/
  3. Re-enable Tiramisu coldboot.
  4. Follow https://wiiu.hacks.guide/#/vwii-modding closely.

In case that doesn't help: Try connecting the power-only end of the Y-cable to a powerfull wall-charger.

Sorry been a bit busy lately so haven't reset my vWii. I tried using the smaller USB drive I got with FAT32 formatting thinking the Wii U should read it but nope nothing happened. Remember this is USB 3.0. My bigger drive is 2.0 and while that drive doesn't work the Wii U does recognise it on startup to ask if I'd like to format it. What do you think about that?

It should not matters if USB 2.0 / 3.0 / 3.1,they are all backwards compatible.
If none of your USB Sticks/Devices is detected, then it is an cIOS / Softmod Issue, pretty sure.:(

Plug your USB Device(s) into your Wii U please, boot into the Wii U Menu and look in the Wii U Menu
(a Notification Screen should appear with the Hint to format the Device) if they are detected.
If Yes - cIOS Issue with your vWii Mode.
If No - maybe a Hardware Issue, but very unlikely.

On the Homebrew Channel:
Please use your FAT32 formatted Device(s) with the Folder "apps" and some Applications/USBLoader GX in it.
Plug it into your Wii U please, boot into the vWii to the Homebrew Channel and
switch on the Homebrew Channel (press "1" on your WiiMotion Controller please)
the Source "Intern SD Slot" to "USB Device" please.
If you get an DSi Exception Screen - It is pretty sure an Softmod Issue
If the Change works, but no Apps appear - It is pretty sure an Softmod Issue
If you can access the USB Device and your Apps appears - maybe a USBLoader Issue only

Good Luck.😉

I need to also add now I've formatted the drive to FAT32 Windows doesn't recognise the drive. If I want to restore it to NTFS or something else how do I get Windows 10 to recognise the USB?

Maybe your Devices have some issue ?
Last Try maybe you can make is to format your USB Devices with WBFS (with the WiBackup Manager).
But it only works with Wii Games - No Homebrew etc.

The issue only occurred after you told me to format my USB drive. I just wondered how to get the USB recognised again. Also please explain why with my bigger drive doesn't work the Wii U does recognise it on startup to ask if I'd like to format it?

For your USB Device:
Is it the USB Stick or the HDD ?
Maybe the USB Stick stops working ? It is not really unusual...very sad,but this can happen.😢
You can use the Command Prompt from Windows 10/11 and the Command "Diskpart" please.
The type "Volume" please and it lists every attached Volume/Medium (including your non responing USB Device).

For the Wii U Question:
When you plug in an FAT32 / NTFS etc. formatted USB HDD or USB Stick/Flash Drive etc. and you boot up your Wii U,is should recognise it and wants to format it because the Wii U uses it´s own File System. You can cancel this Information and everything is ok.:)

Only the modded vWii (Wii) can read WBFS / FAT32 / NTFS formatted USB Devices.:)

I just find it very strange the report said I didn't have the Homebrew Channel installed yet I'm able to go through the Homebrew Channel in vWii easily because it's installed along with the other apps. What's the missing link?

I have no Idea,honestly.
Did you made an NAND Backup (with Wii U Nand Dumper) from your vWii before you installed anything please ?
Maybe recover it and re-mod the vWii should solve the Mystery.

I believe I remember doing so. I think it says on one of the apps if you want to save to NAND or USB. I picked NAND. Please show me steps how to do remod with the NAND I have.

You can use @GaryOderNichts vWii NAND Restore Tool:
https://github.com/GaryOderNichts/vWii-NAND-Restorer

How to use
  • Copy your nand backup to
  • sd:/vwiinandrestorer/slccmpt.bin and place your keys.bin/otp.bin in the same folder
  • Copy the .elf to sd:/wiiu/apps
  • Run cfw (mocha or haxchi,I am sure it works with Tiramisu too)

Do you boot it automatically (Coldboot via the EnvironmentLoader ) or with the Web Browser please ? 😉

I remember installing Environment Loader.
So then:

Every time the Wii U is booted from now on, the EnvironmentLoader will be started automatically, which in turn will start Tiramisu. If you press and hold "Plus" or "Start" on the Wii U Pad, you can select the default title again (e.g. also the Wii menu).
