For game compatibility check the official wiki here:
https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/GBARunner2
You must be running GBARunner2 with a flashcard on whatever system (doesn't matter if it's a DS, DSi or 3DS at that point), and the game is reported as not working in that case. Not sure there's much you can do, unless your system can have custom firmware installed. What setup do you have? Are you on the latest updates for stuff like Twilightmenu++ in case you're using that?

3DS Console still keeps breaking with games on the previous GBARunner2 DSi Builds, but has "An exception occurred, prefetch abort (svcBreak)" Errors and doesn't work on the latest mGBA3DS builds :(
for the love of god stop with gbarunner, it wont be fixed, check the compatibility list and accept that it's what we've got

Issues with NDS to GBA conversion games on GBAR2 on 3DS, and Still starts the BIOS, then always i tested me with games here(?);
Big Mutha Truckers (graphical glitches and very slow. Saving sometimes to be a regression started with Commit 6522414 (2018/11/01) arm9 version from DS build as well on DSi?)
Alex Rider Stormbreaker (weirdest bug, crashed when you select the language)
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
The Urbz: Sims in the City (Audio crackling, was working with DS build Commit f3daa51 (2020/04/13) as well)
Puyo Pop Fever (gfx issue with wrami cache mode enabled)
Mezase Koushiden (doesn't work, freezes while starting the intro)
Arthur and the Minimoys (won't save)
Cars
Cars - Mater-National Championship
M&M´s - Break´em
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Audio crackling, but working with DS version Commit f89fac5 (2018/07/10) arm9 version, what it everything is so on)
Scooby-Doo! - Unmasked
Tom and Jerry Tales (Saving works, but regression starting with Commit 6522414 (2018/11/01) arm9 version on DS build as well)
Shrek - Smash´n Crash Racing (Attempting to save the game, Used with Commit 6e4ce45 (2020/08/12) as well on 3DS)
Resolves to use BIOS?

  1. The TWLMenu++ Settings are irrelevant.
  2. That's the first time I've heard of this issue. Not sure if there's any fix yet.
In the meantime, I suggest running the DS version of the game.
So, I'm not sure what's changed between then and now, but I updated my install of TWiLightMenu to 23.1.1 on my DSiXL and no longer get that weird graphical glitchery in MM:BN1

fyi I've opened a PR that adds taking screenshots, hopefully it'll be merged before too long, but in the meantime if any of y'all want screenshots you can download it from Azure. I've also attached the zip since I don't think Azure keeps its artifacts around forever.

It's based on the feature/dsp-audio branch as Azure didn't work on master and I can't build GBARunner2 myself, but I think it should rebase cleanly if anyone wants to build it on another branch.

Quick question, I'm using a n3ds with a 256gb micro SD card and I'm looking for the best way to play my GBA library without absolutely destroying my 300 title limit. I've tried mGBA but some of my games don't run too well, is GBARunner2 a better option? I do have the latest version of TwilightMenu as well. I would just try it myself, but I heard that GBARunner has a problem with corrupting larger SD cards on 3DS's. So I wanted to check and see if that was actually a thing or not.

The corruption issue was fixed a long time ago, however GBARunner2 isn't great on 3DS since it's really more for the DS/DSi. open_agb_firm probably fits what you're looking for better, it's basically VC injects but with an SD card file browser instead of needing everything on the HOME Menu.

Anyone else having problems with Zero Mission on DSi? The game always freezes up for like 30+ seconds whenever I go through a door.

Odd since I haven't had any major issues with Fusion.

Hey all!
I recently updated my dsi to the newest firmware of the Twighlight menu. However, now I can't play custom GBA ROMs of Pokemon like Pokemon Gaia. All that happens is it takes me to the GBARUNNER2 directory, where I select the game, then only white.

What should I do?

What are the filenames of those ROMs?

Here are the games I found didn't work. Most did before I updated.
  • Pokemon Gaia
  • Pokemon Unbound
  • Pokemon Ash Gray
  • Pokemon GS Chronicles
  • Pokemon Adventures Red Chapter
  • Pokemon Darkrising Kaizo
  • Pokemon Darkrising Kaizo II
  • Pokemon Fire Red
  • Pokemon Fire Red Rocket League Version
  • Pokemon Flora
  • Pokemon Radical Red
  • Pokemon Resolute Version
  • Pokemon Snakewood Version
  • Pokemon Emerald
  • Pokemon Ruby
  • Pokemon Sors
  • Pokemon Sword and Shield GBA
  • Pokemon Victory Fire Version
*the two bolded aren't rom hacks, but rather actual roms.

I dunno if this has been asked already or not, but... Does GBArunner2 support (or benefit from) GBA Memory Pak cartridges at all? Like, used it as a cache or whatever to smooth out any janky framerate issues, or cache files in memory?

No, it does not use them. I believe it has been asked if there could be a benefit to using them but I can't remember the answer.
