It was in the first level of the ps1 version. the background would be black some times. The game will always freeze after 10 to 15 minutes.
I don't think it's SD related because all my cards fail the psram test. Though initially they did not fail the test
Could it be the battery on board? I also get a battery error too on two of them.I was referring to the stuttering in GTA with the SD comment. I just tested a bunch of carts and can only rarely (like 1 in 10 times) get the black background to happen on a rando DSTT clone. The PSRAM shouldn't have anything to do with performance. I'm surprised games load at all for you with the PSRAM error though I'm not really sure what the PSRAM is even doing in patched ROMs.
In theory the battery should only matter for keeping the PSRAM powered between reboots so saves in Clean Mode aren't lost. I'll test this later by removing a battery from one of my carts.Could it be the battery on board? I also get a battery error too on two of them.
This SD card is a SanDisk ultra class 10 U1. It was full formatted with the SD Card Association software and the only writes have been initially adding games and any save files that were consequently created. Personally I don't think it's a SD performance or fragmentation issue. Was there any specific level or part of the game? I literally just played though it and didn't see anything like that. Also could not reproduce any stuttering in GTA? I suspect there ism some SD card sensitivity here. I have observed similar issues in the Ace3DS+ clones that I suspect are related to SD speed and file system fragmentation.

The strange world of DS flashcarts...
I was only able to reproduce the normal minor texture pop in that occurs on the edge of the screen in fast cars like the Infernus or Formula R even on my real copy of the game (also on DSONE, DSTWO, Ace3DS+ and R4i Gold 3DS+). I do think I was seeing a bit less pop in on the Ace3DS+, particularly with the cross hatched intersection texture but it was doing better than my actual copy of the game. The only way I could get actual missing textures is if I turned on the warp speed cheat which leads to all sorts of graphical artifacts on every cart I tried.
I suspect the Ace3DS+ has a much simpler design that allows lower latency on SD card reads which lets it do well when put in these extreme situations but causes some other issues I have observed with it being extremely picky with SD card quality and formatting (I had to do a rain dance to even get GTA to load for some reason.
Assuming these clones are using the same hardware as the originals then ACE3DS+ is a much newer cart than the DSONE (~2007 vs ~2012)? So maybe the hardware inside the flashcard is just more performant.
Good call!these are actually based on the DS One SDHC (2014) https://gbatemp.net/threads/supercard-ds-one-sdhc-released.61738/
Indeed, but the SDHC was released in 2007, not 2014.these are actually based on the DS One SDHC (2014) https://gbatemp.net/threads/supercard-ds-one-sdhc-released.61738/
lol not sure where I read 2014 from in that thread, guess that is what happens when I dont sleep well.Indeed, but the SDHC was released in 2007, not 2014.
Im pretty sure psram issue can be fixed by a reflow, looking at the board, it' definitely looks like it was soldered in a rush, parts aren't straight, the psram chip isn't even sitting level
I suspect this as well. I haven't actually gotten a broken one yet so I haven't been able to test.
Any reason you are using the older kernel vs the newest EOS release?
I just used the latest dsone sdhc, I'll probably buy another next paycheck, don't have a heatgun but that and some flux would really be all that's needed
The heatgun I own is a 1500 watt one meant for paint stripping which would probably destroy the cart. I do also have access to a proper hot-air station, hopefully my next batch has a broken one in it. Also the latest EOS release is available at http://down.supercard.sc/download/evolution/DSONE_SDHC_Evolution_V1.0_eng_sp6_20121030.zip though it's missing a patch for one game https://gbatemp.net/download/dsone-i-patch.37131/.
My dud was shipped from the US.I would assume since they just literally shipped it as is inside an SD card case, no packing, shipping probably can cause additional damage, wonder if carts shipped from USA or uk have the same fail rates
Haha, the warp speed cheat sounds interesting. Typically I don't use cheats but it does make me curious to see what kind of chaos it creates. And fair play for doing the amount of experiementing you seem to have done.

On the DSONE you can select the SD card speed. Out of interest what did you set it to? It defaults to 3.
If all games worked perfectly on all flashcarts all the time, then it'd be a much less interesting subject
