Add on for this info, you don't need to program. you just need to have game patching enabled, and then within the Luma folder, open the titles folder. Then make a new folder labled 0004000000065c00. In that folder, make a text file called "locale.txt" without the quotes. Opent he text file, and again without quotes, add the following "JPN JP". Save the file, and your done.Telli here with some news! if you're running on the latest version of Luma3DS you can use the latest nightly build of LumaLocaleSwitcher to fix the party member bug. just switch the game's language and region to JP and you're done!
That was a known problem back in the day. I really don't remember what you had to do to make it work, but probably you can find the answer deep inside this thread. It had something to do with some kind of incompatibility with either flashcards, or some specific cfw (can't remember).Anyone having trouble with invisible names?

oh well I don't really have access to my PC right now how playable is the game just focusing on the different colors of party members? That was a known problem back in the day. Anyway, I believe if you just use a save game from a correctly working version just after the (8 bits like) intro segment then the names will not be invisible anymore.
PS: I think the solution is like 4 posts above yours or so.
