Got a Wii U running 5.5.4 and installed Hackchi via DS game from the eShop.

Just having one issue; When I open the Homebrew Channel is comes up with an error and forces me to hard power off the console,

Do I have to launch Hackchi when I want run a game or app? Do I have to access the games/apps from Hackchi?

Sorry for silly questions but I am only readlly use to using a hacked Switch, I have a lot of learning to do :).

If you want to run the homebrew launcher installed with WUP Installer GX2, you must first run haxchi/mocha
To open homebrew launcher just open haxchi

Well, im in the same situation.
Got a Wii U running 5.5.4 and installed Hackchi via DS game from the eShop.

(answering the original question running Hackhi while pressing A should launch the homebrew channel too)

Now I would like to install some games in it.
The definitive guide on this forum seems to be out of date as it claims the latest Firmware is 5.5.1

What do I need to install now to run games from the Nand Memory or a Usb Drive?

(I already have WUP Installer GX2, now i need some sort of Wii U USB Helper replacement right? what is the recomended tool at the moment?)

Games installed with WUP Installer GX2 are unsigned games. If the game you installed already exist on the eShop, you can run the game directly. But for DLC and unsigned games that isn't on the eShop (homebrew apps, injected VC Games...) installed with WUP Installer GX2, you must run Haxchi/Mocha first before running the games/apps/DLC.

Haxchi users can also upgarde to CBHC, which is Haxchi auto-run at console boot (instructions are https://wiiu.hacks.guide/ , support latest firmware 5.5.3/5.5.4 for European consoles)

I'm trying to come up with a good solution to the riskiness of cbhc. so far all I've thought of is wup. if you thought ftpii u everywhere was slow, that's nothing compared to this. it might take several minutes to transfer a few MBs. anyway, I was hoping it could be used if you formatted the wii u somehow. I'm still working on it.

I read about the CBHC I decided to not do it until im confortable with all these concepts. Does vWii counts as VC game? (because if not, im mostly interested in wii and wiiu games, if those dont require hackchi to start, im good! )

Can you explaim me what is a signed/unsigned game?

I've downloaded a couple of wii you games that say "Loadiine ready" are these also ok to install using WUP Installer GX2?
What is the file format that WUP Installer GX2 expects?

(An up to date, tutorial video/text would be appreciated)

No

For this I have to briefly explain what tickets are and how they differ:
Every game needs a ticket so that the console knows that the game is "real" and "tolerated" by Nintendo. Every disc game also comes with a ticket - but Nintendo overlooked the fact that you can also install games with this disc ticket! That means you can illegally download games from Nintendo's server (or legally dump them) and simply enclose the ticket from the disc as it is always the same (as it would be quite expensive to make each disc "unique").
-> installation via WUP installer works and the game looks like a real digital game for Wii U -> not even sigpatches are needed!

But for some eShop games (and therefore VC games) there is no disc available, ergo they are only published in the eShop => there is no legal ticket available. Here you use other methods and forged/faked a ticket (described here), but this leads to an invalid signature. That means you have to disable signature checks for installation and start - that's exactly what sigpatches do.
Legal eShop tickets can NOT be shared, because they are unique for each console!

What haxchi does now is to exchange the content of the VC game with your own code -> if your VC game is not legally purchased, an error will appear at startup, asking you to shutdown the console.

Coldboot Haxchi does nothing else than loading this VC-game on EVERY start -> if your VC-game is not legally acquired, this error will appear on EVERY start, which makes it impossible to boot into the menu -> the console has a fullbrick, since unusable. The only way to fix the whole thing is to use a hardmod and a NAND-Backup.

I manage to install my first games using the Wii USB helper.

Can anyone recomend any website to download games that e not available in this app? (I assume if games are not in the eshop they will not be in this app, so i cant find Super Mario 64 for instance)

But I could find the code to put on the folder of the Super Mario 64 (USA),(I think its called the ticket), yet I cant find it on the USB helper, maybe there is a setting somewhere to get the games of a diferent store?, since initially i picked the european one to match my console.
