Hi! i've had my Wii U modded since like 2016, at that point i was interested in the modding scene to play around with emulators and stuff but i'm gonna sell it and look for a White model which i wanna leave stock.

Now i'm trying to get my Wii U unmodded and i don't wanna do anything wrong, i don't remember too much about how i hacked it back in 2016-17, i remember using Brain training to run an exploit which became Homebrew launcher. now i have to run HBL while holding A to enable custom firmwarem i don't have a do not touch or do not delete icon in my data management all i have is Homebrew launcher

i've had some sort of browser explot before that to mod Smash which was a browser hack so that probably isn't significant?

i don't remember having coldboot installed it also doesn't do anything on startup to indicate it being on.

just stating that for the record.

anyone know how to get rid of it all and be able to factory reset it? Thanks!

If you don't have CBHC installed and you don't have the update folder manually removed from the NAND to block updates, a system format should put everything back to normal.
Cool! are those the only 2 things that could make stuff go wong? also is there a way to check if i did get rid of the update folder? it's probably something i would remeber if i'd done it but i just wanna make sure nothing goes wrong hahah

You can use an FTP client to check. Alternatively, you can try checking for updates if you're not on the latest system version. If it updates, you're good. If it refuses to update, it means you're blocking updates one way or another.

My wii u hasn't been online since 2017 or so so i think there must be an update, so i can safely update the console while i have the homebrew channel installed, not while it's running and shows 99.99.99 ofc but just when it boots up before i manually turn it on. sorry if i'm repeating myself i just don't wanna do anything wrong lol

Yes, it is safe to update. Depending on your setup, you might have to reinstall Haxchi or CBHC after the update.

Thanks so much! i got everything back the way it was. :)

Since you don't have CBHC, just go to System Settings and use the Format System Memory option.
That's what i ended up doing, thanks for the help!

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
