Today I bought THE ONLY sewing machine that the gaming community seems to care about. That's cool with me as the only person in my life that sews is my mom, but I might get into it now. It didn't come with the box or manual, so I sought out the manual and found it via ManualsLib at https://www.manualslib.com/download/869927/Singer-Izek-1500.html but if you want to get it without a captcha and a wait then get it at my GitHub at https://github.com/JakobAir/Gameboy/blob/master/izek_1500.pdf . I've got a bunch of plans with this little machine (provided it works) including actual sewing and what Gameboys it works with. I'll be messing with it in the next few days so let me know if you have any questions regarding this thing.

It's sad that this site is GBAtemp.net and the GBA section is 7th from the bottom in the forums. And there's no dedicated Gameboy section. This makes me a little sad. I love this site but can we get the GBA forum which this site is named after maybe stickied somewhere near the top? Anyway, that's my little rant.

Any other Gameboy sewing machine users out there?

I did have a look at some things here a while back; someone wanted to expand its options as they are rather limited with the stock programs and I do like to abuse sewing machines to make various CNC devices... the sewing machine shop was less happy with me though. You might have to play ROM hacker to do really fun stuff with this one.

What one did you get? Is it the original model or the newer nuotto model that lets you do more advanced embroidery.

Standard Version.

You got me inspired. I´m gonna change some art in super mario DX and Game Boy print some crazy stuf like a cactus drinking a beer using TileMolestet. Should start of with makin a grit system how to replace the art.
I´m low skill level so I cant help with hacking the gameboy software, but that would be awsome.
One of the best toughts I came across in 2020.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    lmao

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
