Awesome to hear @xLAKITUx extra storage is always welcome for backup purposes. I don't think you should run into any problems with the SD upgrade. I recently mod a neighbor's Wii and another for my brother & they are using Verbatim 16GB SDHC SD. I did all normal emulators setup on WFL (Atari 2600, 7800, Sega SG, GG, MS, MD, TG16, Nintendo GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES, Coleco) with a few Wii & WiiWare EmuNand. Both are still working afaik. Huge MKW fan & used to play CTGP on nightly basis until my SD went down. I played Wiimms distributions for a few years as well as making a few of my own for personal use I still have on my HDD. I was given a Verbatim SDHC SD & have 2 perfectly working Wii's stored away. Maybe I'll see what's new on the CTGP scene too.

and I’m correct in thinking that if I just copy the contents of both drives onto new ones (assuming they are both formatted as FAT32 with 32k clusters), it should work with no extra steps?

Yes, you are correct in thinking that. But there's never a guarantee that your Wii will agree. :)

p.s. FAT32 MBR (Master Boot Record) 32k clusters. Some formatters allow for FAT32 formats with something other than MBR. Must be MBR.

Agreed.

As long as both the HDD & SD are both formatted properly as mentioned above you should have no problem, just copy from the old media to the new media and keep the old media as a backup. I have my Wii & GameCube titles backed up on 3 separate drives in case there is ever an issue or failure.

Brand new USB HDD and SDHC coming tomorrow from Amazon.

Side note - I'm being super anal-retentive and making a list of areas in my Wiiflow setup with "issues" So, I've got two GameCube games that the syntax of the title is wrong and it's bothering me lol
Example -- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is missing the apostrophe so it is not alphabetized correctly in my game list (I know... I'm insane.)
How do I fix this manually? Something about custom titles?

In root/wiiflow/settings, create a "custom_titles.ini" file if there isn't one already. Open using Notepad+ then edit like so...

gt3e52=Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3

If you want to use the one i uploaded, just find the correct line and edit the way you choose.

EDIT:

I uploaded my complete custom_titles.ini if anyone is interested in using/checking out how it is laid out. I have it to my liking & i still find some mistakes occasionally & have to re-edit. But if you want to save a tremendous amount of time, feel free to use/edit my copy.

Thank you! Just gotta make sure that we are both using the same magic numbers for each system

And jeez... I feel completely annoying for asking a million questions the last week or so but I've got another one

So I've moved most big files/folders to USB over time as I only had a 2GB SD. Now that I am going to have 16GB of space on the new SDHC (and 2TB on the new USB drive), is there some guidance on what is recommended to pull from SD as opposed to USB for compatibility and efficiency?

All my ROMs, Wii/GC backups are staying on USB. Emunand/VC stuff is staying on USB.

However, I have all Wiiflow plugins, plugin data, sourceflow stuff on USB. Also, there was talk earlier in this thread about certain emulators requiring SD.

tl;dr -- Looking for a positive/negative list for key Wiiflow components as it related to SD vs. USB

Just a few. In my case I have roms for mame2003plus on sd. Some games like spiderman, have much better performances on sd.
Some others will just black screen from usb.
Another app that requires sd is Wiimpathy 's Bermuda Syndrome engine port. But it will run only from the hbc, I wasn't able to use it as a wiiflow plugin.
There may be other cases but these 2 are the first that come to my mind

No problem asking, many of us enjoy helping/learning from other users here. I think Tetsuo, fledge & Wiimpathy confirm MAME/FBA work better on SD. Using both SD/USB, you could move everything to SD, Nintendo, Atari, Sega, TG16 etc. since they could boot faster more reliable, but I am not positive of that. Sega CD, TG16-CD, NeoCD, ScummVM, OpenBOR all stay on USB if/when I switch to different Wii with working SD.

I have Bermuda Syndrome 0.4 working on USB through HBC. Just a quick play a second time a few minutes ago & it booted up and played. Are there problems as you progress through the game where it is unplayable or cannot be completed?

It never worked for me on usb. Maybe it's my port1 setup. See here

@protivakid and anyone else.

could you try downloading covers with this test version?

http://www.mediafire.com/file/7k34qskbeit30k5/wf5_cover_download_test.zip/file

make sure you rename your current boxcovers folder and cache folder before testing. this way you can restore them if need to.

I downloaded a Wii, GC, WW cover using test version. WFL shows all art after cache reload, HQ covers are always set to No for me. There were some MAME cache files and a few others in the new "cache" folder which is strange. Everything looks fine on my end.

I was more talking about the cache, cart_disk, plugins, plugins_data, snapshots folders - All of those are pretty sizable, and since I was only working with the 2GB SD card, I had to house that stuff on the USB. Now that I have 16GB to work with, would I see some notable performance improvements by moving those files over to SD now that I have the storage available?

Say, do the Asterisks on each side of the NEO do anything special? Or is it just a way for you to pick them out quickly?

Just a quick way to find what I'm looking for when editing for that system.

Edit:
If you are referring to *Neo* & *N64* VC titles, I have them with Asterisks so they show up all together in alphabetical order while viewing EmuNAND. Basically so they are not listed sporadically along with WiiWare games. I think that was your question? I first thought you meant my listing of NEO, SNES, Genesis etc. under a new magic numbered console. Sorry for the confusion, I think it's straightened out now.

Alright... First foray into SEGA CD - running the latest Rhapsodii Shima theme - using the @fledge68 pack from the Wiiflow Plugins thread

1) In the genplusgx/roms folder, let’s say I have a sub folder for Sonic CD and in that folder I’ve got 1 cue file and 35 corresponding bins, in cover flow it is showing every single one of those files instead of just the one cue file.
2) I can’t select a rom from source flow menu. It will kick me back to system menu
3) I can, however, load a genesis, SMS, or GG game from Wiiflow, then go to the genplus gx menu, select Load Game, navigate to the CD folder, select the Sonic CD .bin and it’ll run
4) Game stutters a bit when running

Thoughts?

Check out this video on how to convert multiple bin/cue to single bin/cue. It shows for PS1, but trust me this works for PCEngine CD & Sega CD. In the download below i included "CHDMAN" also that will compress the bin/cue files to CHD that GensPlusGX supports. There a few different methods of doing this but just put your bin/cue of all your games inside the folder and click CUE to CHD.bat. I would not bother converting PCEngine CD games to CHD just yet, (Not Supported), but I do highly recommend at least converting multiple bin/cue to single bin/cue. This should solve your problems with Sega CD.

Thank you!

And the stuttering during gameplay -- Expected? Bad rom?

What about games with multiple discs?
