Xbox Series X will allow for higher framerates on backwards compatible games

Microsoft has already promised that their Xbox Series X will support new games running at high resolutions, with above average refresh rates supported on the console. But older games will also benefit from the Series X’s power. Backwards compatible titles won’t just run via emulation or through included legacy hardware—they’ll be running natively on the system. Features that will be available for Xbox Series X titles, such as HDR, Quick Resume, and fast loading times will also apply to Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, allowing for better visuals and performance on next-gen hardware. Some games previously only playable at 30fps will even be unlocked to play at 60 or even 120fps. Through this, “thousands” of games, both new and old, will be playable on the Series X at launch.

They have a load of studios, a few tear back I thought they were like EA, buying and killing.

I'm a little more hopeful now, but so far it looks as though any exclusives they have are more like indie games, they'll obviously be showing more over the next few months.

They definitely need at least a couple killer exclusives. They keep trying to love off Gears and Halo, I can't stand either ( although a lot of people do), I just find them to be bland, boring and linear. Always preferred PS exclusives, even they aren't as good as they used to be, still miles ahead of Microsoft though.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I also wonder if Microsoft is able to convince Sega to merge something is brewing between the two and this would help them gain some street credit in Japan plus give Sega the cash flow to tap into their Ip’s

now let’s see what Sony has to offer and what Big N will counter with

No merge, although it would seriously benefit both parties, if Microsoft could sell their IP in Japan, that's a big up tick in sales.

I suspect it's to do with all the new projects Sega are working on, maybe a joint venture, likely Xbox exclusive, for now?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Well that depends if the custom ssd drives come to market because nothing comes close to them especially Sony’s you literally are in game in the blink of the eye

Even if they have good exclusives, Microsoft seem to be bringing them to pc too, so pc could be a good alternative.

It seems Microsoft are trying to pool all resources in one. Combining pc and console. Good value for users, but for Microsoft, they are able to use the power they have on console, to try and battle Valve for portion of pc market (it'll still be close to impossible).

The problem for me is not playing the old games it's playing the new games. I already have the consoles that can play the old games, but I'm not sure I want to invest $500-$600 for the games they're coming out with. Xbox One was a huge step back IMO (bought it day one still own it but I never turn it on) Sony and Nintendo have better rosters of games to me and it's not close.

How was Xbox One a stepback? I also have all my OG Consoles that still play I prefer a new device that can handle all my games so I can preserve the life of my older consoles. Only reason why I'm not buying a Series X is because I bought the Xbox One S last year at full price. Reason I'm not buying a PS5 is because I have like 60+ games on my PS4 I need to play. The only day 1 next gen I'll buy is a Nintendo since they have a high probability of being modded.

IMO I feel next gen is overrated from my experience with the PS3 -PS4 graphic wise it was maybe a 20% increase it wasnt a huge leap from PS2-PS3 but that is just me.

I hope Microsoft and GameStop do the system trade in program a friend of mine gave me his original xb1 which I traded in for 300 credit towards the X, so keep and eye open for that :yay:, but the game enhancer is a big thing for me on the Series X , loading times is the dramatic difference along with 60/120 FPS that will also dramatically clean up games especially realistic ones

That's a sweet deal I wonder how much $ the series X is going to be. I wonder if the legacy Xbox One Controllers will be compatible with the series X (same thing applies to PS4/PS5 controller) I'm guessing the price will be $400 or $500 but they really need to start including 2 controllers instead of 1. Maybe a headset too "just being nice"

You're entitled to your opinion but it's a pretty well accepted fact that Xbox Ones game lineup was no where near as good as 360s. The sales even reflect this. As far as exclusives the best games were probably Forza and to have racing games be the best is no good. Halo 5 sucked, overall the exclusive games were poor. Gears and Ori were pretty good but overall I give it a D.

Okay that I don't know I never owned an Xbox or 360 I just skipped to the Xbox One. I hope they make a State of Decay 3 but make it look like the last of us that would be sweet! I didn't play State of Decay 2 yet but I like the first one I'm playing I didn't realize I put 45 hours in that game already.

I love Forza it is more challenging that Grand Turismo the only thing I don't like in Forza it doesnt really matter if you get 1st or 3rd place but in GT it matters ALOT

I love and hate the state of decay I did hear people didn't like the second one. If the series X is $400 and I can trade in my Xbox One for $250 credit I'll get it if not I'll wait my 3 years

I think the Series X may be 400 because I think they are going to retire the X soon. But if it is $500 the price is okay considering that it has to offer but I'll wait a few years for a bundle or something after I see more games for it.

That's nice but I am stick with Sony. Hello PS5, here I come!

Sony needs a hybrid version of the PS5 also. If we going to be innovative might as well. The vita is mising L2 and R2 (back touch pads dont count) If Sony going to stop make handhelds might as well make a hybrid version of the PS5 I don't see why don;t they go that route. Nintendo was successful with the switch by doing that.

It's definitely going to be $500 minimum. The Series X is meant to be the "high performance" model of the next gen Xbox, there will be a lower end model (rumored to simply be called the "Series S") that will likely be $400 (or less).

Oh wow I didn't know that there will be 2 units but I feel they should go all out and not release a stripped down model.

The Xbox One launched at 500 in 2013. This is 2020 and there's this thing called inflation.

Sony charged $600 for BC PS3 60gb and $500 for 20gb BC PS3 they didn't sell that well so they stripped the PS2 out and sold us lower end models I dont see myself paying $600 for a console $500 maybe I feel that $400 is the "safe price"

But then again our smartphones are like $900+ which is outrageous

Microsoft doesn't give a shit what you think is safe.

If you just research while this is speculation these are smarter people than you speculating

The One X is Microsoft’s most capable console available today and was launched in July 2017 for $500, plus the first Xbox One released with the same price tag. The Xbox Series X’s specs will blow the One X out of the water so don’t expect it to be any cheaper than $500 at launch.

https://www.inverse.com/gaming/xbox...rlett-release-date-price-specs-features-games

Just one example, but that's the norm.
