Hello everyone,
I bought a wii u that had 1.2 CBHC already installed and autoloading on bootup.. The external hard drive he gave me for it that had all the games has corrupted and I cant access the games anymore, and when I hook it up to a computer to see whats actually on the drive, the computer wants to initilize the disk. I have heard about wii u helper but I dont know to download transfer or format the games so my system will accept it or how to make them work on my system with a new hard drive I purchased. It seems as though this is a very intricate process with the homebrew versions, numbers. etc.
I have researched alot on my own, but I am hoping for some additional help. Thanks so kindly

My internal system settings says this
5.5.1
WUP-001c025
gw400830115
hatc-040-2375

I'm pretty sure it's gone 100% you'll just have to redownload the games and start over. Once you put it on a pc it messes it up the WIi U format is not compatible with PC.
thanks kindly for the reply. Yes, im knowing its gone too, however how do I redownload the games? I did not download to begin with. Somebody gave me a hard drive with the games already on it. If you dont use a c to download them, and I cant go on the interet with my wii, then how do I download them with usbhelper

if you initialized the disk, the wii u will force you to format the drive, losing everything.
hi, thanks for your reply. Yep, Im counting it as lost. My question is how do I get the games back and what format do they have to be in. What other software do i need on my external hard drive.....im pretty sure my wii u is setup correctly still.

Google Wii U USB Helper reddit workaround. It has practically every Wii U game and all VC games too.

Oh you already have usb helper? You just download them and make an install folder on your sd card and transfer game(s) there, and download WUP Installer GX 2. It will install them from your sd card to your HDD.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Ok, I need an SD card to do this. I thought I just transferred the games to my external hard drive. Where am I installing WUP installer? On my computer? I dont think my computer has a sd card slot nor do I have one.

You absolutely have to have an sd card and a computer with a working sd card slot. But you can buy a usb sd card reader on Ebay for probably around $5. You should follow this guide for all further instructions

https://wiiu.hacks.guide/

Do you know what custom firmware your Wii U has? CBHC, Haxchi or Mocha?

There is a discontinued homebrew application, Wii U USB Helper Transfer Tool, that will let you copy the games to your Wii U over the network. You still need an SD card in the Wii U, as that is where the game is being copied to before installation, but you won't need an SD slot for your computer anymore.

In my experience though, transferring over the network is really slow. Mocha apparently can speed up these network transfers, but I find it much easier and faster just to use a card reader on your PC.

thanks for your reply. I think its 1.2 CBHC, I bought the system this way. Thanks for the info on the card. That is the piece I was missing. So why do I have this external hard drive with the games on it (corrupted.

Okay, thanks for your reply. There is no SC card in there currently and these games were on an external hard drive so Im i little confused about how they were working on my hard drive????

You dont need an sd card for the games that are already installed to work. But to reinstall new games you do need an sd card because you can't use a computer to do it like we already told you a Wii U formatted drive doesn't work in computer So the only method of transferring is from sd card to external hard drive.

Instead of asking the same questions over and over read the guide that I linked for you. I know you didn't because WUP Installer goes on your sd card and you would know that if you read it.

You're a bit confused. Once the games are installed on the Wii U Hard Drive, the SD card is no longer needed.

Step one is to install Wii U USB Helper on your computer. Google around for a guide for this step, it was discontinued but there are workarounds so you can still use it today. Step two is to throw in a SD Card. Wii U USB Helper will let you download games and copy them to your SD card.

Once the games you want are copied on the SD card, throw it in your Wii U. Then you need to use WUP Installer to install them. If you don't have the WUP Installer channel on your Wii U, you'll have to copy it to your SD Card and run it from the homebrew channel.

Jay,
Please listen. Yes, I have read the guide over and over. I spent alot of time on it. I am not as tech savvy as you. I dint even know this terminology until four days ago. Remember, I bought this for my son already built like this. I spent an entire day just learning what homebrew was, wii helper, ram, rom, cbhc, firmware, etc, I even had to research enough to bring me to these forums For a single mother with no experience, trying tohelp out her son, I think I have done pretty well. I thank you for the support you have given me so far, but if you are annoyed by me or want to speak down to me, then its better not to respond. There have been plenty of things I have said to both you and others in which you did not catch as well. It does not mean they were not listening, it means they are just trying to get calibrated to the situation, just like me......so with that.....thanks

thank you....this was a very good explaination. Im trying to access my homebrew channel (im using 1.2 cbhc by fix94) by pressing A or the home key....nothing is working. No key brings me to the home screen actually...even when I run the manual exploit via the brain game. Do you know how I access that menu. I followed the steps fromt he guide...nothing works.....I need to see if wup install is on this wii u....thanks
