I have a Switch with FW 1.0.0. Is there any purpose to retaining this old version? I've successfully installed Atmosphere, did full NAND backup, backed up unique keys, etc. Of course, when I hold 'R' while opening the Album app, it doesn't open homebrew due to no app, game, or whatever having ever being installed. In order to install an app, game, or whatever, it asks about updating. What should I do from here?

is there a homebrew that transfer save data between a game that has different region & titleid? like jksv on 3ds?
been searching for months but found nothing.

yesterday my friend gift me a switch XKJ4000xxxxxxxxx with 8.1.0 that is patched for sure...
i'm pretty sad for this because I love the homebrew scene...and for what I know a CFW for this consoles will never happen (I've read something about xecuter on may 2020 with a modchip but I don't know if it's true and how hard will be install that chip).
So, my question is. should I give the console back to take a 2017 version? or should I wait for an exploit or this modchip? it seems that the 2019 version is more efficient and has a better display
thank you in advance

Update without burning fuses or make an emummc and update that. I’d use an emummc as there’s a lower chance of something going wrong.
You for sure shouldn’t update & burn fuses though as systems with only 1 fuse burnt are very uncommon.
And on 1.0.0 you’re able to reboot to a payload without RCM, which may be more convenient for some people, and it may get some sort of software coldboot in the future.

Also uh, mind if I DM you about something?

Yes, you can DM me. I'm currently at work but can check messages every now and then. So once I've made the emuNAND and boot into that, I can connect to WiFi and update it and then be fine?

Yeah, that should work.
If you’re going to pirate stuff you probably shouldn’t connect to the internet though, and instead use a home brew app called “ChoiDujourNX” to update.

While setting up Atmosphere and emunand 2 days ago I might have gotten a little confused towards the end with sigpatches and updating, so I decided to take a few steps back and replaced my files from SDcard with the original files from the tutorial. When booting up with Hekate, I checked emuMMC and it was not enabled anymore. Confused, I mindlessly clicked on migrate emuMMC, wich didn't enable "SD RAW 1" on "Change emuMMC". So I tried to follow the previous tutorial and clicked on "create emuMMC". It worked and I got on emuMMC, updated using ChoiDujourNX and left Switch on Sleep Mode ever since.

I've been thinking about it and decided to check on SDcard how much space I have left. Since I did not format the SDcard on this second try, should I just wipe it all and start again? Are there any issues I should check?

Also, I have a "BK00" folder inside an "emuMMC" folder on the root of my SDcard, is it important to leave it there? Is it there because I clicked on "migrate"? Can I move it to my PC and delete it from the SD card or even delete it completely?

UPDATE: ok, I removed it and everything is working fine, I guess it was just another emuMMC on a file that I accidently made?

Hoping that someone will explain things to me.

Currently, I have a switch with a clean Sysnand and an emummc that I use for dragon quest and fire emblem three houses. To have all my downloaded games on my emummc, I simply copied the nintendo folder from the main sd Card to the emummc folder's Nintendo. It worked great!

Recently, fire emblem three houses has received a new update. I deleted the nintendo folder in my emummc and once again copied from the main nintendo folder. Problem: Three houses says it needs an update for some reason and a system update. I'm pretty sure my emummc is on the latest firmware running Atmosphere(there haven't been any firmware updates since I made the emummc)

I tried researching my problem and it seems like maybe my problem is related to sigpatches? I have two ideal solutions. 1. Figure out what sigpatches are and install them to enable fire emblem 2. Backup my saves using checkpoint, delete my emummc, and make a new emummc + re-copy the nintendo folder and then get my saves back from checkpoint.

Will either of these work? Please link me or explain what I am missing....clearly I don't fully understand the switch homebrew situation perfectly.

If there is a update to firmware, can I just update it on stock sysnand and play on outdated firmware on emunand? I only use cfw for one offline game.

Do you have to reinstall files you've installed through xci/nsp if you update firmware?
Do you reinstall all of your eShop games whenever you update your firmware :P

There is a JKSV for the Switch you can try.

Yes.

hello everyone! I am new to all of this which explains why I'm here posting. I have been reading around for quite a few hours and I must say that I was able to follow for a while and now I am lost. I have atmosphere and hekate and everything installed on my switch. The thing that I am having trouble with is seeing and realizing that the games all have to be downloaded again. Which I am reading is something that happens. So you have to take this game data and move it to your computer? and it's called an nsp file? I have fire emblem three houses with all of the dlc downloaded on my switch. I do not have the game cartridge for it. I'm stuck with trying to get that information onto my PC to then turn around and load it back onto my switch using goldleaf? that is far as my brain can take me. I've been watching many tutorials online and reading on here but any help or push in the right direction is very appreciated.

Hi all,

I haven't really followed a guide for homebrew for a few years now and the terminology is confusing me. I have looked at the stickies and it appears I have an "unpatched" switch (bought ages ago). However, I am on the newest firmware 9.1.0. Does the firmware that I am on have no bearing on whether or not I can load emunand? Is the paperclip/jig method absolutely required?

Thanks in advance (Y)

Unpatched refers to the hardware because the exploit used relies on the hardware of the console. And since it is exploiting the hardware but not the software, firmware is irrelevant. The exploit also makes use of something to boot into RCM which requires a jig, paperclip, or equivalent. The alternative is to solder a modchip inside the console (which technically uses the same exploit but can bypass the need for a jig).

Excellent thanks! So the maximum firmware mentioned in the guides refers to the max firmware of your custom firmware and not current firmware then?

Sorry, I've misread the table. Please ignore my question.

What firmware is your console on?

is it safe to get game updates just from the UI saying an update is available? IVe updated a dozen or so games this way so far with no issues but not sure if this will likely result in a ban. Otherwise im always offline

Going online with a hacked Switch can result in a ban. There is no guarantee but it is not safe either.
