Hi everyone. I have an ancient Wii that hasn't been touched in ages. It had homebrew including the homebrew channel and some loaders installed, as well as some custom cIOS.

The problem is that I tried booting it up and homebrew channel throws exception errors while loading. Sometimes it will let me proceed but an error will follow shortly after launching homebrew.

I would like to know if this is a known issue and if it can be fixed by updating all files to the most recent version(s).

If so, can someone point me in a direction of a guide? I have found plenty of guides of how to hack a Wii, but none specifically targetted to those who just wish to get up to date with all current developments, and new homebrew (launchers, etc.).

Hey all. I’m normally pretty good at this modding/hacking thing but this Homebrew Wii stuff has got me confused.

My kid dug up the old wii from under the stairs and I thought I could get it missed for her.

I have the home brew channel installed but I have no idea how to get apps installed, specifically USB loader gx. Can I just move the files to a fat32 USB drive in an /app folder?

Hello.:)

For correct working it is recommended to use an FAT32 formatted SD Card (2 -32 GB recommended).
Most of the Homebrew Tools works only from SD Card.

Also the 3 most used USBLoaders are developed to work from SD Card.
For the Wii/Gamecube Games you can use an FAT32 formatted USB Device (a HDD is prefered and recommended).

Thank you.:)

Check out ModMii, you'll be glad you did

Well if he already has the homebrew channel installed he could probably do it without an SD card, but I don't think he mentioned not having one, so I would just as quickly assume he can follow the modmii procedure as per usual :)

Quick question, I got Luma installed and my 3DS is asking for an update. Should I just let it update or do I need to do something special?

Hi everyone, i hope someone can help me with my problem!

I got a old wii a few days ago and i have installed the HBC on IOS61. I then installed usb loader gx and it worked pretty good but i have problems with the forwarder to work so i installed Wiiflow+forwarder which worked great. Because i still wantedto get the forwarder of the GX loader to work i had to install IOS58. I then tried the ios58 installer but it failed to install so i downloaded the IOS58 and installed it with wiimod.

Now, when i installed the wiiflow... i also used the wiiflow_start_configurator and now i am having this problem that my IOS has switched to 58 and that my USB ports dont get detected any more by wiiflow or GX loader.

Also when i want to switch IOS in modwii then it wont save because after a reboot and reinstall of HBC it stills stays on 58.

So i hope someone can help me getting my usn sticks to work again

"Modwii" isn't a thing, try using ModMii for windows, link in my signature, also it's a stickied thread here at gbatemp in the wii hacking section

Use its syscheck update wizard, or if u want its totally safe to repeat the modding process as if it were a virgin wii using modmii's main wizard, it will overwrite any outdated or improperly configured mods during the process

I am trying to use letterbomb and it just wont show up. I only have one SDHC card because it wont let me format my SDXC card to Fat32. I used a GUI to try to format my SDXC card and it just wont work, because otherwise if I don't format the SDXC card to Fat32 the wii won't accept it. I think it would accept it if it was formatted to Fat32. If anyone can help me with getting letterbomb to work please help! PS: my wii is on the right date and time and I did scroll a long time to the right and left and it just wont show up. I have downloaded all of the files and made sure they are in the root. if you can help please do!

Guiformat should let you format your SDXC card, did you set the cluster size to 32k?
Im not very good at this, but I forgot to mention when i tried formatting it to Fat32 with a GUI it said something along the lines of "Can't format because this device is being used by another process" i looked and couldn't find any other process/application that was using my SDXC card, and closed everything but the GUI and I still had the same problem... And im pretty sure the cluster size was 32k.
