Persona 5 Royal gets its western release date in a new trailer

It’s time to steal hearts, all over again, in Persona 5 Royal, which was just given its western release date. The game, which has already released in Japan, will add extra gameplay and story content, along with new characters. Atlus will be releasing the game both physically and digitally, as well as a collector’s edition. Persona 5 Royal will release for the PlayStation 4 next year, on March 31st.

The Pokemon treatment

It's like Black and White 2 or Ultra Sun and Moon

Scummy way to make some extra bucks

You cannot compare black/white 2 with ultra sun/moon, b/w were completely different games set in the same universe, US/UM were exactly the same games but with 5% extra content.

It is. They’ve also said you can’t transfer your save over from vanilla P5 and play through Royal on New Game Plus to make it easier to get to the new content, which is kind of what I was hoping for.

Honestly, I’m too excited for this game to be brought down by it. What they’re doing is scummy and I don’t like it, but fuck it, I just want to enjoy this game and go back to this world.

damn. why the hell i'm i replaying persona 5 then. i'll just wait for one of my boss fight vs boss fight video's to make one of these days.

Ah yes, the game that Atlus teased Switch owners over because they're too damn lazy to make P5 not exclusive.

Sony already commented how they "value Persona exclusivity", I don't think Atlas has the option to do much about it at the moment.

P5 Scramble is Musou combat but in terms of story, its actually a full sequel instead of a nonsensical crossover mashup like most Warriors games. Its not a bad catch at all for P5 fans.

So you'll keep giving them money, thus encouraging more lazy releases and spin-offs?

Yup!

Well, really, I don’t have a problem with the content in Royal and the Persona spin-offs have been pretty decent, so I don’t have a problem with them either. My problem is with them charging full price for an expansion pack. And normally I’d be all about resisting and fighting against that bullshit, and I 100% agree with people who are, but I’m just so tired of being mad at the video game industry for doing shit like this, I want to be able to enjoy this game. I’ll concede that from a logical standpoint I’m completely in the wrong, but from an emotional standpoint I need to be able to connect with something I love for a little bit and forget about the corporate greed and rampant monetization that normally ruins this industry. Maybe that makes me a fanboy or whatever, but fuck it.

Too bad I don't have a PS4. If it came out on the Switch, I'd buy it.
Is there any announced way to just get the Royal stuff as DLC or is it a 'buy everything again to be a girl' kinda deal? Had Persona 5 for a while digigally and not got around to playing it, would be a shame to have to pay again for stuff I already have
I've never had a game digigally before. Is this a new, revolutionary distribution method?

At least it will have more time, money and love in it than Pokémon.

It's a British thing. I'd try to explain it but you wouldn't understand ;O;
