It’s time to steal hearts, all over again, in Persona 5 Royal, which was just given its western release date. The game, which has already released in Japan, will add extra gameplay and story content, along with new characters. Atlus will be releasing the game both physically and digitally, as well as a collector’s edition. Persona 5 Royal will release for the PlayStation 4 next year, on March 31st.

Is there any announced way to just get the Royal stuff as DLC or is it a 'buy everything again to be a girl' kinda deal? Had Persona 5 for a while digigally and not got around to playing it, would be a shame to have to pay again for stuff I already have.

It looks like it’s gonna be the same as P4 Golden, you need to buy the whole game again. (Also I’m pretty sure you don’t get to play as the new girl character here either).

The release date puts it right after Animal Crossing New Horizons, the latter half of March is going to be interesting for sure!

....especially since it’s smack dab in the middle of the semester for me

one things that strikes me as interesting is that the site has language besides english. like for example german.

That's... A shame? I don't understand, P3P and P4G both have excuses for being separate releases, jumping consoles and whataver, but P5R is still just PS4? The only thing I can think is that it'll be a PS5 launch title too, but at the moment there's just nothing going for it as a standalone release.

Seeing as I have already beat the game twice...

Spoiler: SPOILERS BASED ON SOME LEAKS FROM PEOPLE WHO ALREADY PLAYED THROUGH THIS VERSION OF THE GAME!

...an extra month and some story content should have just been some advanced DLC for the original game. There's no excuse when Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 1 can be updated to Revelator 2 via buying the $15-$20 upgrade pack via PSN and that's on the same, basically-a-PC system that is the PS4!

It is. They’ve also said you can’t transfer your save over from vanilla P5 and play through Royal on New Game Plus to make it easier to get to the new content, which is kind of what I was hoping for.

Honestly, I’m too excited for this game to be brought down by it. What they’re doing is scummy and I don’t like it, but fuck it, I just want to enjoy this game and go back to this world.
