Thanks for the reply, I've got some 3ds spares some where, I'll check to see if I've already got one. :)

Hello all, I'm new on here, but I've been using a number of the tutorials found on GTA Temp to help me fix some issues I've had relating to my Playstation 4, Nintendo 3DS and now with my Nintendo Switch. Hopefully in time I'll have enough skill and know-how to return the favour and offer my help to other members of the forum :)

I was wondering if anyone on here can shed light on what this capacitor is, see in the attached image.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey Folks,

Hoping one of you can save me, i've messed up my board and whilst trying to re-solder fired a bunch of components across the room.. *facepalm*

Can somebody identify the following 3 for me? Bonus points for a product link where i can buy.. You'd be my saviour and I'll happily try and help where I can!

1) Two caps side by side between the filters and the number 2 cap
2) Single cap between p13USB and the dual caps
3) Black caps (I think cap?) to the upper right.

Thanks so much.

this has already been answer in this same thread...

but anyway.. they are all 0201 in size and the ones between PI3USB and the panasonic chokes (1 and 2) are 100pF caps and the ones to the right.. Im not sure, they look like fuses since that the 3v in line but folks here may be able to help a bit more :D

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

just to add.. here a link where you can get them since I See you are also in the UK :)
I think this should do...

The caps are 0.1 μf = 100nf
The 2 to the right are 100k resistors

Oops, saw it had been asked earlier, but couldn't find an answer for it. Thanks a lot folks.

I assume the sizing is 0201 for the resistors?

i was wondering if you could tell me the replacement part for this broken capacitor? thanX in advance
View attachment 178455 View attachment 178456

this is what i had the repair guy use to replace but didnt seem to fix it.
"0.1 uf(100nf) ceramic capacitor size 0201"

still gets stuck at switch logo.

im reading 450nF in a multimeter with the cap on the board not sure it that would be the actual value tho

I have a switch that gets stuck at logo.. I dont think this cap is responsible tho, my switch has the cap intact.and I just did another reading with the multimeter and also gives me 445nF

Maybe a band chip seat? I was pulling the heat shield off when I popped that capacitor off? Was replacing thermal paste Everything was working before this and I see no other damage than capacitor.and my emmc looks good right?

what do you think would cause a switch to not enter rcm mode? i have tried rcm and i have tried both vol buttons and power, nothing just switch logo

Yeah I think you are on the right lines.. I know this switch was bent (can clearly see when I put the board against a flat surface) so it could be the main SOC or one of the memory chips solder balls may teared or cracked, I may try reflow it completely but never done it at this level and I dont have an "oven" .. just a heat gun and solder iron station and lots of flux LOL

funny thing, I also have a good Nand - I have performed full backup with hekate just dont really know if there are any options of "restore" the Firmware, I read there are multiple ways of installing a firmware from scratch, I believe it is on 7.0.1 but not sure either since never seen it on. anyway not even know if this is software or hardware

now, if you are sure all was fine and after knocking the cap this happened.. will try taking one off one of my donor and replace it.. and I will let ya know how it goes.

Ok so... I replaced the cap and nothing still same behaviour, on the positive side, with the cap off I have measured 130nF the cap out of the donor with my multimeter and the bricked console had 116nF on that cap so maybe related..

have you tried to unplug the nand -then try press the power button while plugged into the PC? you should enter automatically into RCM mode

I will go ahead and reflow the memory chips with well spread heat and lots of flux.. lets see if is a bad solder joint

I don't suppose anyone can identify this component because I think I might of knocked it off my board as its not there anymore after replacing the screen connector, apologizes if this has already been asked before.
