Thank you thankyou.

1) So if I wanted to keep my progress, once I download a game on sysNAND officially, I should probably create a new emuNAND so I can copy the official game over and only play it in emuNAND (offline) . Then when I restore NAND backups Ill maintain save progress using checkpoint. Right?

2) can you confirm: I should restore my clean NAND backup before going online and create a new backup after going online.
1) Yeah, than you can play your games in EmuNAND. Before you restore you should backup saves using Checkpoint.
2) If you have SX OS, you don't have to restore before going online. Keep your SysNAND clean and go online with it while you play backups and homebrew in EmuNAND.

Can't I do the back up + create emunand in the own sx os menu? I watched some videos where people just get the nand backup from there
Yeah, SX OS also allows backup but I would do it with hekate (I heard it's cleaner).

if sysnand is the firmware it boots with when you press power then ours pretty much should be clean if rcm and payloads is only emunand then that's all we do here

love how y'all assumed we've installed more than just dev in saying 'of course it ain't clean' we only go online with regular ofw, never atmosphere or the like

guess i can't ask here again without y'all assuming im some sort of mass pirate heh

bye

Just use a tin foil Man. You just use it once to enable AutoRCM and you will never need it again. What i did and it didn't cost me a dime

Please do not link video tutorials, every time someone follows one of them and shit hit the fan it's us tech support helpers that get the task of fixing it.

Hey I'm following https://gbatemp.net/threads/backup-...-your-biskeys-tseckeys-keys-txt-guide.513386/ tutorial as you suggest me to use hekate, its doing all the back up guide of the tutorial enough to stay clean&safe?

Hi, so I really hit the wall here. I'll try to explain my problem as best as I can, but I am not a native english speaker, so please bear with me. I have I hackable nintendo switch XAJ700315.... About a month ago, I updated it to 7.0.1 version and decided to jailbreak it. I found this video on youtube and followed the steps. I really didn't knew what I was doing, I just did what I was told. So I backed up my NAND files ( i think) and followed the procedure. I successfully installed csf (atmosphere something), but couldn't launch any NSP games.( I read that this cfw version was not capable of doing that yet). Anyway. Everytime I restarted my switch it got back to the ofw. But I was really desperate to play some games, so I continued to do the ,,hacking''. I don't really remember what I did, I think I downgraded the version somehow, then installed other version. This went on and on for a while. Somwhere along the way I deleted everything on my sd card. As far I as I know now, those were those NAND files that I backed up earlier. Anyway, after that I couldn't get back to the ofw. I can't even turn my switch of and turn it on without plugging it my laptop and injecting hakate something using tegrarcm. Well, I'd be fine with all this, but I still can't run any downloaded games. It just crashes (goldleaf, tinfoil). So I gave up and looked back at my switch only today. Again I tried to instal cfw to run games, but wasn't able to. Then I saw a new version Kosmos V.12. As far as I understand this is some april fools joke, because there is this funny music that plays when I turn my swtich on, and when I go to the album, only bouncing DVD logo apears. Long story short, I ruined my switch and still unable to play downloaded NSP. Is there anything that I can do? How to install the right version? Goldleaf never worked, neither booting NSP from sd card neither from pc using usb cable. Tho I wasn't able to try V0.5, because I am a real dumbass at those things. Could anyone show me some legit tutorial? If not, is there anyway to restory my switch to it's ofw, so I could at least turn it on normally, without using my laptop? Thank you for your help and sorry for my ignorance.

( Goldleaf error
Error Code: 2168-0002
An error ocurred opening the selected NSP. Are you sure it's a valid NSP?
Press any key to exit...)

Hi there, I was looking to cfw my switch. If I do that would I be able to play online? Is possible to read game backups from external hard disk or only from micro sd? My switch is updated to the latest firmware

Yes, boot files and rawnand is important. Biskeys are also good.

You can play only but you will be banned later or sooner. Only SX OS supports external hard disk for now.

How do you want to use Checkpoint if your switch is patched?

You can straight up copy and paste if no emunand involved.

Been reading this thread a bit more and I'm confused...

We shouldn't go online on sysNAND with a console that has been using emuNAND offline?

Also, does creating a NAND backup leave any traces?

The point is to never go online while using CFW/homebrew. However EmuNAND allows you to keep one NAND separated from another so one can go online while the other stays offline. The default case is for people to use EmuNAND for offline CFW/homebrew and SysNAND for online play. As long as the NAND that is using CFW/homebrew never goes online, you can go online with the other NAND for online stuff.

Also a NAND backup made in RCM shouldn't leave any traces because RCM is triggered before the NAND is running meaning there is nothing to trace the backup. Dumping the NAND in RCM means using a payload to dump the NAND such as SX Loader (the first menu you see when you boot SX OS) or Hekate. You can dump your NAND with homebrew applications like the ReiNX toolkit but because it is a homebrew application that requires CFW to be running, it may leave traces.

Question:

When you install NSP files you need the same space that the nsp file? I mean, if I get a nsp file of 8gb, do I need another 8gb to install it on my microsd? Because I'm having troubles with the free space. Maybe I need to delete the nsp file after I install it? Someone can explain me a bit?

So I backed up my switch when I was 5.1 and 6.2 and now I’m updated to the latest firmware. I want to backup my switch again but I really don’t want to do a full backup if what I believe I read is true and all I have to really backup is the the boot 0/1. Now if this is the case, will it matter if I do the backup while I’m on autorcm or do I have to take off autorcm before the backup. The other times I backed up my switch I wasn’t using autorcm.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
