The problem with that argument is that it oversimplifies a person's financial situation. I for one only had gotten a Switch because my mother usual gets me one gift a year and often struggles to do so. $300 +tax is hard enough, adding $30 would make things worse. Getting games isn't something that normally happens when I first buy a console, it usually happens a while after.
Even if that isn't how it goes for most people, who are you to say that a person who has a Switch will always be able to afford a Switch? I could buy a Switch one month, and barely have enough in my bank account to buy Nintendo Switch Online the next month.
