Hello, I have a Wii with Homebrew Channel and USB Loader. I have a 64GB SD Card and I'm waiting on a 2 TB External Hard Drive. I have a question that's probably easy. Where does my Wii save my games? On the SD Card, USB Hard Drive or the Wii Flash Memory? I have retro emulators and games on my SD Card, and I'm copying Gamecube and Wii games later on the HD. Will I have enough space to save? GC games always ask about a Memory Card which I have none so I have to play without saving. So, where does it save games and do I need to do anything to save them on my HD or SD Card?

wii games get saved on your wii system if you go to system settings you will see your wii game saves. Gamecube if you are using nintendon't get saved on your hdd drive. emulators get saved in the specific folder root of your sd card.

Nintendont saves are on the HDD only if you activate memory card emulation.
If it is disabled, then it will use memory cards that you insert in your wii.

Hi, thanks for your replies. That makes sense. I see the saves on the SD card. How do I activate memory card emulation? I'm using Nintendont. Please reply. Thanks!

In an unrelated question, do I need to merge my games with 2 discs? Like Disc 1 and 2? On Gamecube ISOs?

In the options, in nintendont when you will be in front of the games list press b and you will see the options, now activate memcard émulation and choose how big will be the emulated memory card.

Awesome. Thanks. What about the Disc 1 and Disc 2 games? Should I merge them? Or are they supposed to be 2 seperate discs?

I noticed Gamecube memory cards are small. 8MB(old)-128MB(New). So should I keep the 2 disc gamecube sets apart? No merging? Thanks again!

(Disc 1) SD or USB:/games/Resident Evil 0/game.iso

(Disc 2) SD or USB:/games/Resident Evil 0/disc2.iso

both discs need to be on the same folder and the iso need to be named like the sample above. memory cards are small because the save files are small unlike wii which has larger save files.

For memory space, I think it’s ok as long as nintendont doesn’t show a warning.

I have another question, on MAME on Homebrew channel, it only shows games from "numbers 0" to the letter "B". I'm still learning to use Mame and found the left and right d-pad goes through the list of roms. But how do I get to the games starting with "C" and after? I have a lot of roms on it. A baseball game worked but no other roms show up after B. So how do I get through the whole list? Is there a max size of roms? Should I use my Pro Controller? I tried all the buttons on my Wii remote. I'll check back later.

Me again. Another question. Some of my Wii wbfs are too large for my HDD. It says "The file Xenoblade.wbfs is too large for the destination file system." It's 6.31GB. It works on OneDrive where I backup. It give the above error when I try to copy it to my External hard drive. Can I fix this problem? Should I look for other downloads that are smaller?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

"FAT32 file system does not support 4GB or larger files."

its quite clear, FAT32 file system does not support 4GB or larger files so you need to change it to ntfs or split the game in multiple files.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?

    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.

RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament

maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
