Hello there.

I’ve started to homebrew my Wii for a while now and one thing that I’ve never really found an official answer of is how exactly EmuNAND works on USB Loader GX.

Here’s what I want, if possible :

I want to have all of my games on USB Loader GX not saving on my Wii’s NAND, but on the EmuNAND that I’ve created.

The issue is that even if I’ve set correctly the EmuNAND saves path with my game saves on it, when I open the game without its save on the Wii’s NAND, it create a new save on the Wii’s NAND even though I’ve set the correct path to my EmuNAND.

Just to clarify, I’ve already made the following :

- Created and specified both folders for
EmuNAND channel path and saves path on
my SD card.
- Dumped my Wii’s NAND to the EmuNAND
channel path.
- Set EmuNAND channel to full and EmuNAND
saves to partial.
- Extracted all of my game saves to the
EmuNAND.

Then I’ve deleted my saves on the Wii’s NAND assuming that they’ll create, save and load from the EmuNAND instead, now.

Surely there’s something I’m missing and I really need help to just find what it is to make this work.

Thanks.

Setting emunand channel path to full wont save to sd card its another setting i cant remember it and if you dump your emunand with usb loader gx then wiiware games wont work its broken dump your nand with bootmii and extract the nand.bin with showmiiwads and use the extracted nand it gives you and saving wii game saves to sd card not on nand will break loading for some games Zelda Skyward Sword is one of them.

Thank you, I’ll check this out as soon as I can.

I am having this exact same issue. For some reason after correctly setting all the paths for the emuNAND, my Wii games are still using the sysNAND. Did you ever find a solution to this?

Unfortunatly, I never found the proper configuration needed for this to work, because after long researches, I just stopped.

Though I found no true answer on this, I play my games the hard way. I just send all my game saves to the SD Card in the Wii settings and when I know what game i’m gonna play, I just send the save back to the Wii’s nand.

Alright, so after more than one year, I’ve finally been able to get this to work.

Here’s what I’ve done in order :

- Followed this guide step by step to get the right, most recent Wii cIOS :
https://wii.hacks.guide/cios.html
- Got and downloaded the most recent version of USB Loader GX and its channel forwarder from this page :
https://github.com/wiidev/usbloadergx
- In USB Loader GX, leaved the EmuNand channel path and saves path both to the default setting, which is the following :
sd/nands/01
- In USB Loader GX, dumped my Wii’s nand to this default path.
- In USB Loader GX, set both EmuNand Channel and EmuNand Saves to full.

And there, with all these steps, it started working flawlessly.

It is worth noting that doing these same steps, but with my hard drive did not end up working. It only works with my SD card.

WiiWare games also work flawlessly with these steps, including, to my suprise, the infamously broken game that previously did not work on EmuNand, Castlevania : The Adventure ReBirth.

Hope this helps people in the future.

- In USB Loader GX, set both EmuNand Channel and EmuNand Saves to full.
The EmuNAND Channel Mode setting should be left on Full, but you probably want EmuNAND Save Mode to be set to Partial.

Since I wrote that original reply, I've drastically improved both game compatibility and save compatibility.

Oh, interesting. I didn’t knew that full used not only game saves on EmuNand, but Mii, Wiimote and network info too.

I will put it in partial then, because I want my Wii’s Nand Mii in games.

Thank you for this.
