Happy New Year 2019, from GBAtemp!

The GBAtemp Staff team would like to wish all our members and friends a Happy New Year, 2019! We hope your 2018 was great, and that 2019 will be even better!

With this year's Tempmas and 2018 itself having come to a close, (with a lack of Bittboys as compared to 2017's celebrations!) it's time to turn our heads towards the future and think about all the things that will happen in 2019! But before we do that, let's take a moment to reflect and laugh about all of the things that happened within the last year!

Going all the way back to the first day of 2018, our first piece of news for the year was an update for Cemu, a nice post-holiday present for any emulation enthusiast. I wonder what will be our first piece of gaming news in this new year!

Following that, was our first official review of 2018, which happened to be for Blossom Tales, a cute game that took heavy inspiration from classic Zelda games to make for an experience that many enjoyed. If you played this game, what did you think of it?

Throughout 2018, GBAtemp received many new improvements and made fun changes! Midway through the year, @Issac updated the contact tab, so that people could easily find other members on gaming platforms and social media. Say goodbye to AIM, and hello to Discord! That wasn't all, though! The Admins brought back the GBAtemp Download Center, allowing for members to easily share their homebrew works and projects.

Thanks to our viewers and the work of our Twitch streamers like @Meteor7 , the GBAtempTV Twitch channel also managed to become affiliated! We even ran a few giveaways to thank our lovely community for helping us attain that goal!

Backer Raffles also got to happen multiple times during the year, with much appreciated help from our Patrons, allowing for awesome prizes like Amazon gift cards and Nintendo Switch consoles to be won by lucky entrants! How exciting!

The Magazine Staff managed to reach new heights as of 2018, starting off on a fantastic note, as @T-hug, @Chary, and @Prans hard work with writing news paid off, and GBAtemp became a part of Google News. @Scarlet got to attend multiple press events in the UK, the most amusing of which was with the illustrious developers of Shaq Fu! Our efforts even managed to snag @Chary and @Hells Malice an exclusive interview with Nintendo themselves, at E3 2018!

Yet another fun new addition to the forum was made in 2018: the GBAtemp XP System was implemented for the first time, rewarding members for useful contributions. How many levels have you gone up since the start of the year? :gba:

And perhaps, most notably, GBAtemp's server issues finally came to an end! Gone are the daily 504 errors, and now the site has been given general stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

Between all those events, we saw controversial news, such as Nintendo's new paid online service, the rise and fanaticism of Fortnite, Switch CFW abound with ReiNX, TX, and Atmosphere all releasing, lootbox scandals, and more! 2018 sure was a packed year! What was your favorite moment or event? Be sure to let us know in the comments, along with your New Year's Resolutions! :toot:

Happy New Years, everyone !!

2019 seems very exciting

The Pokemon TCG has a lot of nice products coming out

Along with the next pokemon GEN on the switch.

Plus maybe some more information about the new Shin Megami Tensei game for the switch.

Anyhow, be safe out there...and wish you and your families good health

Personally I've had a miserable and underwhelming New Year's celebration.

However I do hope everyone else has had a good celebration to enter 2019! :)
