Ok so if you were to clear all the logs and stuff that are identifiable that ninty are banning people for and then did a factory restore would your switch then be back in a “clean” state?

A friend realised they didn’t have a clean nand backup would just a factory reset get you back to a clean state?

You can probably make clean NAND using only prodinfo. I have no idea how and if it is even possible.

A "clean" NAND is not necessarily a "safe" NAND.

People have been banned for clearing their logs, so it seems Nintendo also checks for "continuity"
i.e. if some logs your Switch sent before go missing, it means you did something questionable to get rid of those logs.
So IMO, just having a NAND backup is not enough.
It'd also be safest if you NEVER go online from when the NAND backup was made, until the point it is restored.

So as for your question, maybe you can use ChoiDuJour with your biskeys to create a clean SYSTEM partition, and along with an empty USER partition, to create a "clean" NAND. It's not necessarily a "safe" NAND though.

But if your logs were cleared and you then did a factory restore would that still trigger anything on Nintendo’s part as your “new” console would be accepted as not having any logs yet?

I just want to help my friend get their clean nand backup for eventual emunand or error avoidance. So I’m not saying it’s something they’ll go online with straight away but something cleaner than what they already have.

Factory restore does not clear logs, there's just no way to clear those without hacking.
So having clear logs will always be suspect, if you've sent ANY logs AT ALL in the past.

Is there a list / link / discord / other , where can i read about what kind of logs SX OS or Hekate or other are creating ?
Also was wondering about cleaning my Switch to play Mario Kart 8 online.

There is no real way to get a clean nand again, not even a restore. My best guess is to clear the logs with dreport (The SDCardfiles should do fine) and boot Hekake and clear. Then factory reset your switch and format your SDCard. Oh and never boot Horizon while you doing the Hekake parts, but instead boot Recovery Mode (it's power + Vol - without a jig!), and from there do th factory reset. Then you can boot your Switch normally because in theory it should look like you had a problem with your Switch and manage to get it to work by doing a factory reset.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
