Too bad everyone reverse engineering 11.8 says that's not the only change? Please let the people who actually know stuff talk about this

That's because freeShop doesn't use nim when normally installing games (it DOES however when doing a sleep mode install), I won't risk updating and getting potentially banned anyway
Ive done both normal downloads and a sleepmode of pkm moon. They all seem to work fine. and my friends list is fine too.

So, using fbi to scan the qr code from titlekey site to download(game, update, dlc) is the same as using freeshop?

Since Nintendo has the ability to detect pirated copies vs normal copies, I preloaded a game before release and installed a dummy seed to play it. I then installed the official seed. Should I just back up my save files on this game and go buy a hard copy? Considering I play the game online (and haven’t had any issues).
If you could "play it", it's not a dummy seed - it must be the correct seed (not that this news has anything to do with seeds, or with online multiplayer)

It's equivalent (technically not the same code) as in-app Freeshop download (or downloading from a PC), yes

Technically the second part of his post is right (nothing intentionally done to obstruct CFW); the part about "no other changes"... probably not but who knows? Apart from my comparison on romfs'es, nobody posted further details on 3dbrew about 11.7 (and many earlier updates are still not fully documented) :)

Maybe not on 3dbrew, but on Discord there's much more info

An instant messaging discussion is now socially acceptable as a form of documentation? What has the world come to...
When most of the people active in making hacks in the 3DS hacking scene are there, researching and discussing about what they find, I would consider it an "acceptable form of documentation"

The reason we're ignoring it is simply because we have to join said discord server just to see it. I don't know about you, but I don't like the idea of me going onto a random discord server that I don't intend to permanently join just to get one bit of info that's going to be publicly shared anyway.

Wait, so its safer to download software inside FS, and not going in sleep mode and let it download though the HOME menu? Man, there was just ONE game from FS i used the Sleep Mode installation. Guess i should unnistall it, delet the Ticket and the re-install it inside FS?

So if you already have a title from FreeShop, would updating that title via FS be blocked? Would the same go for updating carts via FS?

Well sure, it will get public anyway, but again, most info comes from there, I was just reporting back what I read

How can nitendo ban people if freeshop (and every other PC CDN Downloader) is not sending console specific informations? With the new changes they can block you from using CDN downloaders but they can't ban you.

So, this is my understanding of the situation, and correct me if I'm wrong because I barely know anything about this shit:

Basically, an app ticket refers to your 3DS sending a signal to the Eshop servers saying "I paid for this game and I want to download it" and Freeshop sends a fake app ticket to the Eshop to let you download content directly. Now it's encrypted, and if your app ticket does not use said encryption (IE Freeshop) it'll detect you're trying to pirate. It has nothing to do with whether your pirated copy is real or not. You still "own" the app, it's still linked to your account and your 3DS just the same, so playing it online should work fine.

Right?

There will be no difference in the ticket, whether you use in-app or spotpass downloads (in either case, the ticket is nonlegit and generated from scratch from titleid and titlekey)
