I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but can someone please convert this Conception II save on page 34 of the 3ds savegame requests thread to be JKSM compatible for CFW? Thanks

While trying to boot up my Luma Updater (even though there’s no need too) it tells me that there is a FATAL ERROR and that it “failed to obtain required data”. Anything to fix this? I’m on an Old 3DS. Does this mean I have to update it and replace it with a new version of itself?

This has been talked about before here.

The solution is there.

To update LumaUpdater, do I just go into FBI (TitleDB) and download the one with 2 creators and that will replace the one I already have? Or do I have to download the new .CIA, delete the current one I have and then install the new one (.CIA)?

It'll probably have the same result but just to be sure do the second option.

I tried updating FBI using the app itself but it said that it failed and gave an error code and stuff like that. Do I have to download the .CIA for the latest FBI and download it, then replace my old one that is failing to update?

Try updating FBI through TitleDB, or simply update manually.

I have the Homebrew Launcher on my New 3DS and since I’m on 11.7, I was wondering how to update the launcher to the latest firmware, since it’s still on 11.6 . I heard the boot.3dsx and other app.bin are connected to all this homebrew stuff and I also forgot how they are! Could I get an explanation onto what they do and how to update The Homebrew Launcher too?

Question
I got a "new" 3DS today, it's on stock 11.5 firmware
I don't want to fuck up my flashcart I use for NDS stuff
But I have a second 3DS with CFW.
Should update to 11.7 or can I do the DSIWare stuff on 11.5 with a second 3DS?

You can update the second console and use DSiWare hax with a system transfer, or seedminer, if you don't want to mess with your DS flashcart.

If it works on 11.6 it will probably work on 11.7 but I'm not certain. You'd be best off to install CFW, then you'll always have flawless access to homebrew. https://3ds.guide

Hi guys,

My 2DS was collecting dust, till I found out there's cfw available.
I installed Luma the other night, with my 2DS firmware being on the latest release (11.7 I believe).
All works really well.

I'd like to upgrade my SD card.
Right now Im using a small one I had lying around.
I'd like to upgrade to 64/128/256GB.

Will a 64, 128 or even 256Gb sd card work?
Does it support SDXC? (officially it doesnt) I read it only supports fat32, but no exfat. Is that correct?

I tried looking this up online, but all I found are either the official Nintendo statement (does not support), or old posts, where the experiences are different.
(ie does not support, does only support sdhc, gets extremely slow, needs to be formated with custersize of 32k, needs to be formated with clustersize 64k, etc)

Hope someone can give me a clear answer :D

Thanks! :D

I have CFW and all on both of my 3DS’s. Both with Luma, GM9, B9S, and everything like that. I am however wondering what the boot.3dsx is for and how to update it (if that’s even possible) or if you just leave it there?

I recommend 64 or 128 GB, 256 seems like too much. Use guiformat and format your card as FAT32 with 32kb of cluster size. You just have to move the contents from one card to the other.

boot.3dsx is the Homebrew Launcher. I think the latest release is 2.0, so if you have that (check by using Rosalina), you're fine.

I think this is the github, too.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
