I don't think your cIOS is bad, or it wouldn't work with wiiflow (when using that slot), and wiimote would unsync.
but if you want, you can use d2x cIOS installer. (greywolf will link to one of my post until I include it in my full wii hacking guide  )

MBR and GPT are different partition table type, GPT has a problem with USBLoaderGX but not the symptom you have (it crashes on boot).

So, I have no clue why it returns to sysmenu. If I have an idea I'll post again.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!

I have solved my problem of not being able to load Wii games through USX Loader GX.

Thanks to Cyan as he prompted me to double check the path for the game files. I had mine /wbfs/Game's title [TitleID6]/Games' title [TitleID6].wbfs where it should have been /wbfs/Game's title [TitleID6]/TitleID6.wbfs. Once I made that correction all the Wii games booted as they should have from USB Loader GX, no changes at all to IOS or boot IOS. It's strange though that this wasn't a problem for WiiFlow though...

Anyways, Very Very Happy!! So thank you to all who contributed to this outcome :)

Unfortunately, one problem fixed another pops up;

I tried to download the cover art/banners/disc art etc. in USB Loader however it simply hangs. I can click buttons on screen (but nothing happens) and I can no longer exit back to the main menu, so I need to hold down the Wii's power button until it switches off.

I've checked my wireless connection which is working (actually when I tested it, it was successful then asked me to update, should I?). So I'm wondering if it's a bug in USB Loader or on my actual Wii? Is there anywhere I can simply download the entire collection and then just dump it on my HDD and edit the paths in USB Loader to correspond?

Thanks again for everything thus far, and I hope you can help in this new matter.

You can manually add covers to USBLGX, yes. In fact, the main page here should say where the specific covers go (or even just poking around in USBLGX's app folder will turn them up quickly). GameTDB's Wii section should have what you need for Wii and GCN games covers/disc images (the non-ISO kind :P ). As for banner files (if you care about those), I'd just say try to find a decent collection and add it manually as well, that's what I had to do when I needed to add more to mine recently.

cover download being stuck and making the loader unresponsive happens when it can't write to the device. It was a bug in SSL init with previous version (but you said you have 1268, I disabled SSL to prevent that bug).
It also often happen when you try to download to flash drive, but you said you have a HDD; so just be sure you use SD card for all homebrew files, and USB only for games.

please, be sure you set the path to resources to SD, NOT to USB !

I'm having the error "USB Device not initialized. Switching to channel list mode." I'm using the last version r1268 (although it happened some time with previous versions). The thing is that it doesn't happen always. I'm using a Toshiba HDD and it's connected just with one USB cable. The HDD works perfect with the apps, emulators and GameCube games. The Homebrew Channel always load the apps from it, but sometimes, when I load USB Loader GX it shows that error... other times work perfect and load the games... When I'm playing I never noticed a problem of the HDD being disconnected or something, it works like a charm, so that's why I don't know why it sometimes shows that error...

Hrmmm, perhaps you HDD shuts down (goes into standby mode) once it loads the game and is no longer required then when you close the game an return to the menu the HDD is asleep and it fails to recognise a HDD being connected. It may need a y splitter usb power cable to keep constant power.

Y-cable is usually needed on WiiU, not Wii.
If you have "HDD not found" maybe it's because of the common init bug with newer drives.

try doing that :
launch the loader (without hdd connected) > settings > loader's settings > Loader's IOS : change 249 to 58 and exit the loader
plug the hdd back, and try again.

using IOS58 should fix the init device bug, as you noted other homebrew and emulator (which use IOS58) are working fine.

No, that's not the problem, it loads the USB Loader GX from the HDD, so it's reading from the HDD in that moment.

The error showed is "Error: USB Device not initialized" not "HDD not found", but I will try that anyway to see if it solves the problem. Do you think that problem with newer drives will be solved in the future? or is it problem of the cIOS and not from the USB Loader GX?

that's the same thing, the first one is the reason, the former is the result. it's easier to say "hdd not found" when talking about it, but you are right the problem is the init sequence.
That problem with new drive can already be solved, not need to wait the future : use IOS58, solved :)

it's a problem of the cIOS, if you use a cIOS in the loader's init sequence with newer drives you have that issue. If you use IOS58 in the loader's init sequence, it works.
I could force the use of IOS58 at boot, but last time the loader's dev did that a lot of users have issues. I guess it was because lot of users didn't have IOS58 installed, but now everyone should have it. I have to rework the loader's boot sequence, I'll automate the use of IOS58 one way or another, I'll just have to think about it.
in the meantime, it's a simple fix : change the setting manually.

Im having some trouble with Metroid Prime Trilogy. I can load the individual games just fine by selecting the dols, but if I want to load from the main menu, it starts loading and then kicks me to the home menu. I want to boot from the game main menu because I want to use the fusion suit.

which cIOS version do you use?
it looks like you have d2x v6 or older (or hermes) cIOS.
please update to d2x v8 final, or if you already have that version be sure the "block IOS reload" option is set to Auto in the game's option.

Okay, thank you for all that useful info. It seem it's working now but, as the problem wasn't happening always I still can't say for sure that it's fixed (but I hope that).

I have a question/requests for the banners (.bnr) files. You can configure the sound of the banner to "Sound+Silence" or you can make it bucle constantly... I like the Sound+Silence as it works with my original games but the problem is that some of the banners needs to be in constantly bucle to sound well... Would be possible to save special configuration for some banners?
And talking about banners, of all games I have tested, they always work fine, but I found one game "Pangya! Golf with Style" (PAL version) that shows the first part of the banner bad... in this video you can see how it should be: But for me it shows the white balls already from the begining and a green square where the hole will be... I can't explain it very well but if you can test this game and compare the banner with the one of the video you will see.

Unfortunately, there's no individual setting for the animated banner's sound type. I don't know if it would be easy to add, nor if it's worth the time and work for just few games.

The animated banners engine is not perfect, and has been coded from scratch by multiple developers. I know few banners have issues, like Castlevania, or japanese games. Some features are even not working at all like banners reading external files (mario kart's system channel, vote channel, etc.)

for both, I'm sorry but I won't do anything. the first option is (in my opinion) not worth it. The second one is too hard for me, I'm not the developer who coded the system menu emulator, and I don't have the knowledge to fix it.

Okay, I understand what you say. It would be great to make the loader the best possible, and it would be good to make the banners that needs the bucle on to work well, but I understand that if it takes too much work it doesn't worth to waste the time... it's a pity.
About the banner system itself, don't you know anyone of the autors to ask about it?

Is this a Wii U thing? USB Loader GX does not launch Wii U games.

@GreyWolf - Are you still maintaining a mod of this?? That link on the first page comes up as not available.

Check my GitHub "spork" project, but it's about a month out of date and only supports FAT32. :) I pulled the "streamline" one because Chinese pirates.

I'm almost done updating the real version for the newer devkitPPC and will try to get a patch to Cyan soon.
