You'll have to restore the prior NAND backup that was associated with the games.

thank you,

I only have the NAND back up from when I first installed the CFW, just before I added the games, if I restore that one I guess it will bring back fbi and so on but not the games?

I will try tomorrow when I get back home from work, I really hope it works I lost my wife’s bravely default save and she will literally kill me if I can’t recover :)

If it is the NAND you installed the games on, but it is from before you installed them, you just have to install their tickets to make them show up. After restoring the backup, run tikShop. You can get a QR code for it on a reddit post (called something like last known working cia of tikShop)

Hi again. I just installed a replacement top screen into my new 3ds xl but it seems the bottom is brighter than the upper. Is it possible to recalibrate them somehow?

weird, it's usually the other way around

there's no way to calibrate them as far as I know, at least software side.

I remember there was a little knob in the PCB of the Nintendo DS, maybe it's there for the 3DS too.

Hey i have this problem, im trying to power on my old 3ds XL ive hacked succesfully with luma in 2016. Sadly ive lost my old sd card and right now when i try to put the power on, a blue light flashes and nothing happens.
I remember that i have to put something on my sd card in order to make it work but have no idea what.

Ive found a backup of NANDmin.bin NANDmin.bin.sha and otp.bin with a timestamp of 30 august 2016 which can help you to pinpoint the version of luma. I remember that ive used a new version of installation that was streamlined just days before.

Try getting arm9loaderhax.bin from Luma 7.0.5 at https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases and putting it on your SD card. If that works, follow https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s to update to the latest stuff.

What is the "knob" and what is this thing doing?

Thank you, seems I am still missing something:

it is the NAND I installed everything on, its the backup while following the 3ds.guide, right after installing CFW and FBI and just before adding the games
I replaced the NAND, and FBI and so on returned.

Then I ran TikShop, it installed all the tickets and openend the eshop.
The games did not return, the games are USA versions the shop is JPN not sure if that is a problem.

When I go to the system settings and look at the memory the games are still there but greyed out and with an X
I tried Checkpoint and JKSMK but neither could detect the games
I installed freeshop and when i go to the games I have installed, it shows them as installed with the option to delete or play.
Delete warns it will also remove save game data, and play makes the screen go black and reboot.

Try picking a game you know you have, and go to the 3DS titlekeys site and scan the QR code with FBI. When it says would you like to download from CDN say no. See if that makes it show up. TikShop only downloads the tickets for your region so if all your games are not of the region of the console it won't help, as you've discovered.

I have a N2DS XL at 11.5.0 and have a flashcard. Should I update it and follow DsiWare way or keep on with flashcard? Because I want to play DS games with flashcard too.

Format the new card as FAT32 then copy and paste files over.

I used a 4 months old youtube video to hack my new 3ds XL (ver. 11.3.0-36U) and apparently everything was going ok until the last step, installing FBI, it just froze the first time, other times just showed me a red screen and get back to HBL (2.0.0), I noticed that Luma is 8.0.0 (I used safehax), but when I go to settings its say that is ver. 11.3.0-36U (I can also access to chainloader), what should I do to proceed with the hack?, please help guys you are my only hope!

Update to Luma 9.0 (get the boot.firm from https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases), and follow https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup.

Don't ever follow a video guide again. They're outdated and could cause you harm (if you accidentally mix old and new techniques or software, or if the older method is less safe).

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
