Apple rejects Steam Link iOS app from App Store

IMG_8182.JPG

If you were looking forward to the upcoming Steam Link app, and you own an Apple phone or tablet, you won't be able to use it, as Apple has denied the app from being on iOS devices. This change of heart comes after the company had originally approved the Steam Link app on May 7. Valve had made their official announcement, expecting nothing to go wrong. Near the time of launch for the app, Apple had quickly changed their decision, citing that the they had "business conflicts" with it that hadn't been originally discovered during the approval process, causing the app to lose certification and not be allowed on the digital storefront.

Valve has appealed the decision, stating that they are disappointed with Apple, and that they hope the company changes their mind. The phrase "business conflicts" hasn't been elaborated on, but it's assumed that Apple took issue with the app's ability to stream PC games to a phone or tablet, which would potentially cause Apple to lose sales on the mobile front. Steam Link is currently available for all Android devices.

The term retina has to do with ppi and view distance, not just resolution. Samsung actually started defaulting some of their phones to output lower than native resolution by default and nobody even noticed.

which android phone maker has better customer service than apple? Google has some of the worst service in the world, apple easily beats Samsung in customer service and then the rest are a bunch of Chinese companies for the most part.. i dont care how experienced you are or what you take apart, it doesn't change the truth. Don't take my word for it, and certainly don't listen to cnet, engadget or other fools who have no clue. but heres a good link https://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors/Apple-A11-Performance-Review-iPhone-8-Plus-Taking-Desktop

I don't really care that much either, except when I see people so brainwashed by Google and Samsung advertising that they actually believe their crap LOL. Billions have been spent convincing people that not only is apple horrible, anyone who likes their products is a sheep and an idiot... That's what I care about. Plus when you look at the roots of android, it just makes me want to bash such a horrible company https://gizmodo.com/5941817/what-really-made-steve-jobs-so-angry-about-google

Apparently we have very conflicting views here. Apple has never helped me, and I have multiple friends and users I have spoken with whom hate Apples customers service. Either you are a golden user, and get everything you want... or you are trying to defend a company that rips people off for fun.

Google on the other hand has rather good customer service. Their Nexus and Pixel lineup gets a ton of great treatment. Also, I never listen to any form of Media outlets. I always boil my opinions and experiences down to what I, well, experience on a day to day basis. I dont care if Apple SocS are better, if their CPUs are running at a higher clockspeed, etc. It boils down to what the user wants, and how they want it to perform. Android does it well, and iOS does it decently from my experience. I am not saying iPhones are horrible and do not buy them. I am saying that what Apple has been doing, is fucking over their customers and they should not be able to get away with it. Getting away with producing faulty hardware and software is bad enough.

Apple isn't perfect, but they look that way next to Google in my experience... oddly enough Microsoft beats them both hands down for customer service but they have no viable mobile platform.

They've always went out of their way for me anytime I needed them, and they don't seem to be rushed either. But that's just my experience.
Personally, I have never gone to Microsoft for help. Since I always fix issues myself... or just keep on using Solus or any other Linux Distribution. But that is another topic for another time.

Apple's rotten to core I guess they like being a rotten Apple...:P (I don't hate apples though) I just dislike Apple's attitude & closed ecosystem etc.

Sorry I just couldn't stop myself from writing this. Q.Q

I guess I'm in a sarcastic & jolly mood today.

that's cool, but sometimes I need them to give me a new license key and they give it to me pretty easily. They also support their actual hardware like their Xbox line (not talking about first party games) much better than apple or google support anything. Again, this is all based on my own experience.

You are fine lol. And you are not wrong by any stretch of the imagination. Even some Apple users can agree with you.

Microsoft is okay with support for other platforms. Google admittedly needs to step their game up as well.

I prefer a closed eco system and them maybe not allowing a few apps vs googles attitude of them owning everything :). With Google your personal information is their main business, like Steve said Apple could have done the same and made a ton of money, but you simply just buy their products for a price and that's it. At the end of the day what do you value more?

The S9/Plus/Note8 defaulted to 1080p on some builds, and I certainly was able to notice.

It's actually funny that there's a setting to downscale your resolution to "Apple-level". It's a useful feature that's also a big slap in the face to Apple. Doesn't get any better than that.

Its actually because almost all people can't even see the difference and aren't knowledgeable enough to know anything other than "bigger number is better". Apples "low res" screens actually look better than any other phone other than maybe Samsung (and even that's debatable since Samsung isn't color accurate). So we end up with android phones with super high res screens, tons of cores in the cpu (reminds me of amd), cheating on benchmarks, more megapixels in the cameras instead of better lenses, and a bunch of useless features just to make it appear you are getting something better.

MicroSD card slots, USB OTG, true multitasking, fast&wireless charging.

"Useless"

Also, the S7 camera was actually downsized as far as megapixels (resolution) goes compared to the S6 when they vastly improved the camera. Another reason why the iPhone X camera suffers to the Note 8's.

Nintendo likely won't allow Rainway on Switch to stream Steam games.

It's what Nintentards deserve. Who cares.

See where that logic goes? Apple has a closed ecosystem, but that doesn't mean their customers should be punished for their ego.
Not really my point, TBH. Apple is by far the front runner in exploiting the welfare of the Chinese people in brutal ways, bending every law that existed before their arrival there and canoodling with a dictatorship, all the while selling themselves on the west as a brand for free-thinking, politically forward and intelligent people; evading taxes by making use of every loophole in the book. Worst part is somehow people who usually are smart buy their products in planned obsolete cycles, perpetuating an extemely eco-unfriendly cycle. Before you ask for sources, other than the WSJ please look up "Dying for an iPhone".

Edit: In summary, fuck Apple.

So one sided, ios is faster
Believe it or not this seems to no longer be objective My work primarily deals with selling phones, so I get to see all sorts of phones from brand new to a customer having it for years. I can't get a good consistency on speed for devices.

There's all the variables, such as apps downloaded, used, features turned on, battery capacity, and a few other random items that make it hard to establish. Luckily, I sell phones brand new, too, so those variables are eliminated as I get to set them up.

I have seen new iPhone X's menus and performance bog down in comparison to their traded in reset LG G6. I have seen new Samsung S9+'s perform slow compared to my coworkers customer's brand new iPhone 6S. I have witnessed a Samsung S8 get setup quicker than another S8.

There's too much discrepancy in all hardware to definitively say one is faster than the other, no matter what you shove into that plastic/metal/glass chassis.

Good Youtube third party apps gets removed instead we’re forced to use the standard garbage app to watch videos, them giving you a purposely shit 3.5mm adapter so that you could rebuy which costs too much

(Also blocking the charging port which again, forces you to buy a dual charge/headphone jack to do both. And yes, those items that I’ve said are also listed in the official store which is scummy that you need to buy one instead of supplying us)

them giving a earpiece that’s only has lightning compatibility which means no jacking it straight to your PC or consoles so you need to get another earpiece and them thresholding older phone models because screw you, buy our latest phones.

Why am I not surprise they would do this?
