Hardware small part fell out my Wii drive...help please

hello all ,
a small metal part fell out my wii drive when i flipped it over when attempting a repair..
can any one please tell me where it goes .....ive looked at pics / info
for hours and cant find anything..

It looks like it could be a retaining clip for one of the ribbon cables.

yeah could be...any idea where it goes please mate? - been trawling for hours and cant find any pics.
it came out with this white piece of plastic but ive found where that goes...along one of the side of the top metal plate..

do you mean the white plastic part (i figured out where it goes back in) or the metal part that i dont know where it goes?

Yeah I was talking about the white piece, dunno about the metal part, could you take a better pic of it?(metal piece)

I don't even think that is part of the wii drive. Maybe your kid brother shoved it in the wii or something.

lol, one of my kids maybe....saying that,.... i found a penny inside which is prob the reason it wasnt reading discs... but this but came out when i flipped it over to unscrew the laser lens board...if its not meant to be there cant see how it got there underneath??

i havent put it back together yet...wanted to find out where the piece went first.

You dont need to use the disc drive anyways with USB loaders, so forget about that part and move on.

yes i do need to use the dvd drive which is why i wanted to repair it

Which model of Wii disk drive is this?
I'm thinking it could be a D4 model, in which case the only decent teardown picture I can find is this one:-

Look at the ends of the black and white plastic drive roller part on the right.
Its hard to make out but it looks like it could be from one of the ends of the drive roller? The part that allows it to pivot.

i dont think its that bit mate...its too big..and they are both in place by the looks of my drive

You can do that with an USB loader.
