Hey there,
hope this is the right place...

Basically nearly every time I dump a game via Godmode9 or install a CIA via FBI the writespeed freezes around 40KiB/s after some time.
sometimes (if cia is under 1GB) everything runs through perfectly, but for more data-demanding games its very frustrating to install or dump to SD. (i.e. MonsterHunter 3U took me about 7h to install)
playing games and writings saves works fine.

im getting the feeling it's my SD-Card, its a Transcend 64GB SDXC (i know, 3ds officially only supports up to 32GB SDHC, but i formatted it to FAT32).
I already checked for Sector errors, but it didn't help at all.
btw im using an old fashioned, normal sized 3ds on 11.6.0 39E

Hope somebody can help:D

This is NOT an issue with the SD card itself, it has to do with the files in it. Make sure you got plenty of free space and that you don't have any corrupted files on it! Also, try cleaning the pins. As someone who's had that same issue MANY times, I can tell you it's not an SD card error for sure.

Error checking with hdtune went negative.

What exactly do you mean by corrupted files, how am i supposed to identify them as such?

Free space is around 42Gb, so that wont be a problem.

I tried cleaning the contacts on the microsd and used another brand new microsd to sd adaptor, still the same issue. Is there a way to clean the 3ds sd slot?

No need to bother with the SD slot. Since it's a micro SD, make sure it's fitted firmly in the adaptor. As for the corrupted files, remember when this started happening. It was most likely after you installed something, so delete what that was if you can remember and see it fixes.

Try copying some files with a PC and see if the same happens. I had the same problem with my SD, some blocks went bad for no reason so I had to RMA it.

Actually it has always been this way, and by always i mean the whole 2 days im using homerew on the 3ds:D i immediately installed a cia and it happened.

In case this helps, i used a boot9strap flashcard to be able to stay on the current firmware, and accessed / installed homebrew via soundhax and luma/rosalina

On my pc its actually fine i think, like i said error checking with hdtune went negative and altough the writing speed is way slower than advertised (maybe because of my cardreader), it still reaches a stable 20mb/s.

Edit:

so i actually un- and reinstalled homebrew completely from stock firmware again, so that no data could be corrupted - still having the same issue...

usually when you (using a pc) see a filename (or type) that is/looks like garbled text.
ex photo
sd-card-png.92875
that and/or look for a file on the sd card that takes up more space than the total size of the sd card itself

It could also just be a file no size when it should have a certain one...

What is hdtune? You should use H2testw to check your card.

h2testw found (after taking forever to finish) no errors whatsoever.

Just for shits and giggles ,can you try another SD card? Preferable the one that came with the system.

I went to a computer store on black friday, saw one for 9 bucks and tought "why not". Copied all the files to the new one and the problem had been solved. I couldnt edit my post to end this thread tough because my phone somehow won't le me edit posts anymore.
