Also updated the OP so we don't have too search for it every time
I've remade the bootTvTex.tga and iconTex.tga for Pandora's Tower, with the opening.bnr thanks to your help.
My problem is to create one for Nights: Journey of Dreams. I could make a iconTex.tga but not a bootTvTex.tga because Wii Banner Player didn't show the banner properly. Only the background and the sound is loading. Nights and the Nights logo refuse to load.

simple way to extract opening.bnr is with the dolphin emulator:
or with wit:
first get a file list from the game :
example:
Code:
wit files SMNE01.wbfs > smnelogs.txt

now open the .txt and ctrl+f for opening.bnr

... use that line to extract the .bnr

It's a nice tutorial, but I'm still a bit lost on (at least) three things:

1) there is a part missing just before the "now turn the tpl into png" part. Namely that you have to run U8Mii two times (the first time on opening.bnr, and the second time on icon.bin) to get the .tpl files you want to convert.

2) could be my windows 10 64 bit OS, but wii banner player wanted openal32.dll. I got this from the internet, but could only get this to work by dragging an opening.bnr file onto it. The cool thing is that it grabs and shows all bnr files in the folder (if you click on one, it'll play that one), but it doesn't show gamecube opening.bnr's. This could be normal - it IS called wii banner player, after all - but would you know how to make these files?

3) I take it you need to play the banner for the boottxt file and unpacking the icon.bin for the icontex file...but neither have the correct format (and the first has this huge black bottom). Is this a matter of cropping the black border, resizing and fitting it in that template at that point?

Sorry if this sounds noob-ish, but I really don't know this. Can you or anyone else help me out at this point? :)

You just need take a screenshot while Wii Banner Player is playing (both icon and banner), if the banner doesn't display properly THEN you would need extract tpl files to recreate the banner (or parts of it), like NiGHTS case that @Games Xtreme mentioned.

Gamecube only has a little banner that is so tiny that is useless to work with, it never had a banner system like Wii.

@Games Xtreme you would need take a look to the tpl files inside NiGHTS .bnr, it probably needs to recreate the logo and other missing assets from Wii Banner Player.

Also Pandora's Tower was officialy released :P, it's more easy just grab its banner/icon from jnustool and convert the .tga to .png

Hey i know i requested it a few days ago but think it may have been missed. Could soneone please make me banners for Final Fantasy IV The After Years thanks.
I saw your post but currently I'm hands tied with Wii/WiiWare banner creation (my PC video card can't handle Wii Banner Player properly), if you take a nice banner/icon screenshot with Wii Banner Player I'll make it. Also I asume you have the PAL version? It's better to have the PAL banner as the american one screw the whole thing with the ugly ESRB notice :P

Sadly i dont think my 10 year old laptop will be up to the job lol i will just sit back and patiently wait for some kind soul to make me one

Okay...thanks for clearing that up. Luckily, the 20 wii games I want to convert don't have that (okay...harvest moon Animal Parade kind of does), so the wii bnr player will do.

And the iconTex...anyone know a good (and free) image program that lets me select a rectangle that is locked on a 128x95 (I think it is) aspect ratio and directly paste it into the template? :unsure:

The icons that display in Wii Banner Player before you click on them, I need those to create the iconTex

Tip
: if you put all your .bnr in the same folder as Wii Banner Player it will display all your icons like this (though with this method you probably will need take multiple screenshots until you grab the right animation for every icon :lol:) :

Done, not sure about Shaun White World Tour, I think the banner is messed up (could you check on Wii U?)
Banners that will need reworked:
  • Sakura Wars (not sure why the logo is not showing properly do you catch the right time to take the screengrab?)
  • Harvest Moon Animal Parade (icon is fine)
  • Marbles Balance (icon is fine)
I only own Sakura Wars so I will see if I can't fix it.

Also reworked Driver San Francisco.

For official release I won't create banners, I will get the .tga from junstool if available, that's the case with WarioWare Smooth Moves and Shadow Tale, though I updated the US releases (PAL missing)

Please check if they show up in the injector app :)

Banjo-Tooie does not work for me the game loads to title screen and i hit start only to see banjo and a white background tried playing game best i could but after 5 mins had zero clue what was going on lol due to banjo being the only graphics showing.
