Sonic Mania - Chemical Plant Zone revealed

Coming hot off the heels of the Sonic Mania pre-order trailer that was released just a week ago, SEGA have shown off gameplay footage for another throwback stage for Sonic Mania, this time Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992).

Although footage from Act 1 of the stage shows a faithful re-imagining of the original zone - Act 2 footage posted on the Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel shows a radical departure and a range of new stage gimmicks, including an incredible music remix from Tee Lopes.

Check the footage out above and let us know what you think. (And yes I will be posting every little update there is to this game - get hype!)

I like how familiar, but new CPZ is. Generations had a rehashed feel, but now it's like there's a new foreman running this chemical plant. And thank Trump for cleaning up that water. Oh, wait.....

If the team behind this don't get the chance to follow this up with a completely original sequel of free-rein then heads will roll. It's almost a shame to see the act 1 of the throwback levels are so familiar when the act 2's are balls to the wall crazy-inventive and THIS GOOD!

Oh yeah! That's the Sonic I was always waiting for.
If you don't know, I completed every old Sonic game ranging from Sonic the Hedgehog to that & knuckles version.

i wish i had this to play back in the days.

And SEGA whilst your at it making sonic great again. Why dont you bring us Shenmue 1+2 HD plus Streets of Rage 1 remake or a fourth entry in that series?

I am just saying Sega.......us fans would appreciate that alot more......just take our money Sega. Why dont you make sequels to your past successes and take our money.

I don't approve of this specific remixed music. The original music in this one is better.
The other tracks we've heard so far sound perfect.

I'm looking forward to this game. I found out about it here actually. I would agree about this specific remixed song. the original, imo, is better.
