I may be ignorant on the matter, but there are different kinds of cancer, I would imagine there can't be one cure for them all. A cure for one, a cure for another, more likely. Whatever the case, if there is a curse, Martin Shkreli will buy it.

"If" we had a cure the aftermath in the public would probably do more harm than save lives.
Drug lords would manipulate it for more money, and criminals would steal/kill for it that also goes for nurses/doctors aswell. But in a hospital we probably wouldn't be able to afford even with insurance

They're figuring out how to program living cells like computers. They've even made a software for it. It's called Cello.

Right now it's pretty basic, but maybe in the future it can be useful for cancer treatment.

Having a cure for cancer is about as complex as curing the common cold. It's just one thing that is cancer, it's a wide verities of diseases that all act different. There could in theory be a cure for single forms of cancer, but even then it be unlikely.

Considering the financial and moral benefit of releasing a cure to one or more cancers, I don't see why it would be hidden away. There would be no financial reason for them to withhold a cure.

Cancer is a blanket term for 100+ diseases. Asking if they've cured "cancer" is like asking if they've cured "disease".

But no.
As there's not only one type of cancer.
You know, one can develop Mammarian Cancer, others Brain Cancer, Skin Cancer, Testicular Cancer... and so on and so fort.

If all types of Cancer developed equally, then, one single cure could cure them all.
But since Cancer develops in unique ways, there's no such cure yet, we need different cures for different types.

With that in mind, some people has to have a unique "cure". Its actually called: Treatment.

For instance, one person can have any* type of cancer and another person *another type of cancer.
If the first one reacts positive to the treatment, it means that the other person should do so. Sadly, different people reacts differently to certain treatments.
This is why treatments are expensive, because a "doctor" needs to research the type of cancer and develop a UNIQUE treatment for that UNIQUE person.

They probably have diacovered cures for a few of the cancer types out there, but i doubt they will ever find an universal cure for all of them.

If you want more salt, let me give you some facts:
Cancer gene is carried by ALL humans. Its embed in our DNA. That's because, Homo Erectus carried the gene. Then Homo Sapiens developed a DNA without that gene.

Apparently, Scientists discovered, not so long ago, DNA of a certain Erectus, upon DNA Research they couldn't find the Cancerous gene.
While other Erectus DNA had them.
They concluded that, at some point of Human History, Erectus had sex with Sapiens (us) thus we carry with their genes.

So, its very likely that at least 3/4rs of the entire population will develop some type of cancer sometime along their life.
