Hey,
i have a problem:
I bought a N3DS, setup ALH9 and Luma3DS on it and sold my old 2DS.
Before, I made a nandmin.bin backup and saved all files on the 2DS SD card.
Now I want to get my save from Pokemon Moon back on the New 3DS.
Is there a way to do that with the data I saved or is the savegame lost now? :(
Pokemon Moon is bought from Eshop if that helps, no Cartridge.

Did you back up with a save manager? Essentially, it could be in the Nintendo 3DS folder with the title id of its name.

if you generated xorpads from the source console, you could decrypt the dump then import the ticket and moveable.sed so the target can decrypt the source consoles id0/id1 folders, dump the save, then put the original ones of the target back into place, then restore the save

No I didn't think about that :(
I thought the saves are in the Nintendo 3DS folder, it seems as they are there (told in different threads) but even if, I don't know how to make them work on the new system..

Or maybe even simply xor the source save directly, then re-xor it with the target consoles , copy it back into place

Then unfortunatley i think your out of luck, as eshop version saves are encrypted by the 3ds, so therefore without the source console on your person, or the xorpads, the nand or save cant be decrypted to get them on the new console

I'm really new to 3DS (especially Homebrew on 3DS) and I don't know what xor is/means.
Could I somehow restore the nandmin.bin on a device or Emunand(I don't know what that is right now, but sounds as if it could emulate something? :D ) and dump the saves?

Hmm what I got is the nand, and the folders where the saves should be inside.
Shit.. -_-

NO RESTORING IT TO EMUNAND AND TRYING TO BOOT IT WILL BRICK THE CONSOLE

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And xor is just a fancy term meaning decrypt using the xorpads

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It bricks because the new console dosent have the nessicery dependencies and files to decrypt the emunand, as each console is specific

No, i won't do it, was just an idea I wanted you to ask about :D

Hmm okay.

So you're sure the saves are gone now?

Maybe if I find out where exactly the saves is stored on SD card, start a new game on the N3DS and override it with the old?
Or is the save encrypted and only usable with the old nand?

every single file on the sd created by the 3ds, is encrypted. So no, simply overrriding wouldnt work

You could have either used a save manager such as JKSM to dump an unencrypted copy of the saves or you could have done a system transfer from your old console to the new one to allow it to decrypt the files on the SD card. Without doing either of those, you are out of luck.

Okay, should have looked that up before selling the old one
My last thought about that but I guess not working too:
could calling Nintendo help maybe, can they open a way to get back the save?

Oh wait...
I downgraded the NFIRM of my old 2DS with another CFW 3DS from a friend.
Therefore i did a systemtransfer from his 3DS to mine.
After his 3DS was formatted by the systemtransfer, I just restored a Nand backup on the 3DS and his saves and games on SD Card where right there like before.
Could I use his system to restore my files then?
Because after the transfer his savefiles worked on my DS, why would't mine work on the 3DS then?

Only if you didn't format the 2DS before creating those saves. If his 3DS uses the same folder names within the Nintendo 3DS folder of the SD card as your 2DS, you could use his 3DS to dump the saves using JKSM and then restore those on your new console.

If you formatted your 2DS after the system transfer, that is not an option.

That's because after the transfer, your friend restored a backup, therefore your system and your friends system both share the same id0/id1 folders.

Therefore, as long as neither party hasn't formatted since then, you should theoretically be able to slap your save into his console, then dump it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

But of course, I reiterate that point too,
As long as the saves were created after, your should be fine slapping them into his

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
