Hey guys I have a wii u that's on FW 5.3.2E and I tried updating but it seems like I have to restore the vwii and everything else before I can make that happen. I posted about this issue a while back but back then I didn't have any of the games needed to modify my vwii again.

Anyhow today I "jailbroke" the vwii and tried it out and everything is working fine now.
I'm wondering though what do I need to do exactly so I can update from Nintendos official servers?

Here is a print of all the files that were in the root of my old SD card:

Here are the ios i've modified if anyone has the originals I'd greatly appreciate it if you could share them!

So you never bricked your vwii?

Do you know which ios you installed that caused the issue? Usually the updates are broken when a wii ios is installed to vwii.

I followed the definitive vwii guide and this is what I modified:
Step 4. Make the following selections based upon which cIOS you are choosing to install:

Procedure for IOS56:
- at "Select cIOS" press right and select "d2x-v10-beta52-vWii" or "d2xv10-beta53-alt-vWii"
- at "Select cIOS base" select "56"
- at "Select cIOS slot" select "249"
press A to install → cIOS 249 installed.

Repeat the above procedure for IOS57:
- at "Select cIOS" press right and select "d2x-v10-beta52-vWii" or "d2xv10-beta53-alt-vWii"
- at "Select cIOS base" select "57"
- at "Select cIOS slot" select "250"
press A to install → cIOS 250 installed.

Repeat the above procedure for IOS58:
- at "Select cIOS" press right and select "d2x-v10-beta52-vWii" or "d2xv10-beta53-alt-vWii"
- at "Select cIOS base" select "58"
- at "Select cIOS slot" select "251"
press A to install → cIOS 251 installed.

I chose d2xv10-beta53-alt-vWii for all 3 and also this:

Installing Modified IOS 236

This section assumes you have followed several previous articles up to this point, and therefor have The Homebrew Channel already installed on your vWii.

Step 1. If you have not already done so, download IOS236 Installer MOD v8 Special vWii Edition above and extract it to your SD Card. Put the SD Card in your Wii U and boot to the Wii Menu. Run The Homebrew Channel and you should see IOS236 Installer MOD v8 Special vWii Edition available to launch. Launch the program.

Step 2. Follow the on screen instructions to install a modified version of IOS36 on IOS slot 236.

Congratulations, you have successfully installed a Modifed IOS 236!

You replaced your MIOS with DIOS MIOS. You need to replace it with an original vWii MIOS. The vWii shouldn't have any MIOS, so you need to remove it.

Also dios mios in vwii makes no sense anyways we use nintendont for GameCube backups in vwii

You should just install the backups of youre vwii ioses wich you should have created because its recommend to do this also ge rid oft mios dios

just vor youre infomatio you performed a softmod and not a jailbreak

As Raizor83 said it before, you have installed the modified MIOS. Wii U have no MIOS at all, so you have to clean this garbage before you'll be able to update your vWii.

pretty much this. the nintendont guide mentions not to install dios mios. change the default gamecube boot mechanic to nintendont. u can use the wii u pro controller with it which is one thing that makes it far superior. the only thing u can't do is have multiple drives plugged. unfortunately, there's no way around that currently. I bought a toggle switch for my wii u drive just for nintendont. it should be here tomorrow. ;)

did u backup each ios? I'm assuming u did if u followed the definitive guide. if u didn't, u should be able to download the ios with nus. make sure it's for the virtual wii, not the normal wii. I think there's a nus downloader for the virtual wii, but someone else may know better than I.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

you shouldn't be screwed at all. even if u were to brick the virtual wii, I'm pretty sure u can fix it with ftpii everywhere or wup server.

the toggle switch to my virtual wii is built in to the hdd enclosure. the other toggle switch is something u plug into the usb cable. I haven't tried it yet since it will be here tomorrow. here it is. u can probably find one for cheaper though. $40 is kinda steep: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Sabrent-USB-...887541?hash=item51caa0cfb5:g:JUIAAOSwstxVLkya

and, here's the toggle switch I bought for my wii u hdd, but I don't know if it works correctly yet since I'll have it tomorrow: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RC1R69S/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Based on oji's comment above the vWii is not supposed to have any MIOS at all, so you should be able to just uninstall/remove DIOS MOS to get your Wii U updating again.
