Hi all,

I got some kind of complex situation here.

I have an old 3DS, pure and virgin, with my NNID, some DL games and VC titles, nothing to worry much about. This is the 3DS I use almost exclusively to play online Super Smash Bros for 3DS, with my legit bought characters and stages.

I also own a New 3DS XL (XL in Europe, LL in USA). This n3DSXL has reinand and luma inside, freeshop, and a lot of games/CIAs, and also I own a Gateway (orange buttons). This n3DSXL does NOT have linked any NNID, just freeshopped games, and the ROMs in the Gateway. I got it all installed by a 3rd person, so I don't know about things far beyond copying, dl and installing CIAs.

So, yesterday the hinge of the old 3DS (my "pure" console, the one I use to play online) started to fail and when screen is (trying to be) unfolded to the max open position (180 degrees), the console shortcircuits and shuts down with a creep from the speakers. Yes, never saw that before now...

I would like to extract / transfer [mainly] Smash save data - because of my bought content - from old to New 3DS. I tried to insert legit cart to my New XL, download updates, and play offline, hoping bought content showed up, but it didn't (maybe because of not being my NNID linked? Is it stored in the o3DS SD? Both? None? No idea). I fear System Transfer would mess too deep with SD CFW files in any way, as I have read somewhere (NOA web IIRC) that transferred files get new signatures, there is a memory wipe, unusability, and other bad news.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Use freeshop to download all the smash dlc to your hacked system. If all you're worried about is smash dlc, then this should solve your issue.

I am just freeshopping smash + update + DLC (guess characters, clothes, stages). I will link my NNID to the New XL, then play online. Anything I am missing to avoid being detected and/or banned? I recall something about headers and cartridges and other stuff. Will downloaded update and DLC work for the cart game?

Could I re/download (I bought it and I can re-download it, but never tried to) the DLC from the eShop or is it a bad idea to connect to eShop?

Everything sounds good.

It's safe to connect to the eshop

IIRC, there were some kind of problem when you had purchased and non-purchased DLCs, something like some DLCs being removed every time you enter the eshop or something like that. Maybe any other user has more info about this

The issue arises when you use dlc/updates that you downloaded from online (iso site), and install via .cia

Freeshop dlc/updates will not be erased if you enter the eshop

I am not really into using eShop - just doing it now for the sake of the DLC.

So, then, there is no other inconvenient with what I edited before, right? Header for the game to work online? Or am I mixing ideas? xD

You can get the dlc with freeshop, why bother with eshop?

Headers are for gateway/sky3ds. Cias don't have headers, don't worry. There are no special steps to escape detection.

Just to avoid the disappearing items thing. And I really care for the smash working and not being banned - I am addicted now xD

Well, will check all and come back later to say what happened. Thanks to all! :)

OK, now everything's working fine. At last, I did this: freeshopped SSB+update+DLC, inserted cartridge (I am fond of it because it was a gift), started the game from cart, it created some additional data, and started to spawn trophies. Everything is fine now, online and offline. No need to link the NNID, and that is what I am happier about. Had some issues with the Miis, now I have "lost" all the other data (games, saves), but in the end I am really having fun with SSB because it works really fine and fast in the New. Tried a YouTube tutorial about "popping" and "screen", but didn't fix a thing on the hardware level. Kind of sad because the all-time-long stats from the original console are lost. D'oh! Maybe in the future I will get a new 3DS and transfer all my hardware-napped data to a blank console if a cheap one crosses my way.

Thanks all for the help!

If you want to transfer your other saves you can use jksave manager.

Hell not sure what was going on but for like a few weeks MP3's sounded muffled, some driver or Windows update fixed it. Thank god lol

I'd sooner buy the Meze 109 Pro if I was dropping that much on headphones. I don't even like buds/IEMs

I got the Google Pixel Pro buds, they're good enough for when I need portable audio. And some really cheap IEMs that Dankpods recommends, I think the KZ ZSN Pro

I'd stick with cheapo Chinese $10 ones quality is actually becoming on pair with name brand since name Brand usually quads the price up anyway loose one bud that's another $200

My Pixel Pro buds shit the bed a month or two ago. My wireless charger (which they do support Qi charging) absolutely COOKED them. Caused some problem that caused the case to heat up to 180F+
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
They were like 9 months out of warranty but I hit up Google support anyway and told them how hot they were getting and they replaced them with new ones because they wanted these for failure analysis lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    lol wireless charging
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why I can't bring myself to even spend $100 on wireless earbuds

I think it's a cool idea but damn
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Apparently the case has a problem with >15W wireless chargers. Google design fault, that one.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I could live with wireless charging if the damn standard case doesn't block connection

    how is wireless charging possible?

    Copper conducting electricity or something
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@Xdqwerty, power through a coil of wire causes an electromagnetic field to be generated. Another coil of wire can be set up to harness the power from that electromagnetic field and turn it into usable energy for charging a device
