I'm surprised there are no bug bounty applications for their web services... I found a xss vulnerability on a nintendo domain a while ago, and I know some companies like Google rewards you for these kind of vulnerabilities, but unfortunatly, nintendo don't.

Nintendo being Nintendo...

I don't hate on them, but, really, this is just another instance of their very long history of being control freaks about everything.

I already feel they are fanning the flames, even if they have the best interests in mind for themselves and the gamer.

The can only go along with this for so long before no one will even take them seriously.

I digress.

I develop GTA V mods (such as ENT (Enhanced Native Trainer)) and I get that and "can you add a feature which is already present".

I can totally sympathise with those who leave the scene after being pestered.

To be fair, the moment this bug bounty program was posted - that already started happening.

Especially since you'll never see a $20k bounty, no matter how big.

"You found A9LH MKII? Great... give us the code and enjoy this $100 we think it's worth."

Little, too late Nintendo. That kind of behaviour is also why a lot of people prefer to sell the exploit they find to companies who hoard them for "that rainy day" when a big government body comes knocking, wanting something (ala iPhone unlocking). That and they get so much more money for it than they'd get via the bounty it's insane.

are they doing this because they've tried to adapt the 3ds os for use as the switch's os?

It would make sense if they took bits of the 3DS's FW to use in the Switch due to it's portability.

No doubt they're combining the 3DS's firmware and the WiiU for that "best of both worlds we don't have to spend loads of money on developing."

What happened to the belief of a quality control publishing of games? Now is just about making money,

thats what happens when a passion is run by a business. I see people complain about "just making money," but thats how business works. Sure, customer loyalty may play a factor at some point, but once you are big enough, it plays less and less of a factor because they have other ways of getting their income aside from loyal customers.

Say you're in a Minecraft Server. You store your diamonds in a chest. You then have Admin commands to move that chest's location to a random position in X/Y ~1,000 You are then given a written book containing the exact position of that chest. Every in-game Minecraft day, the chest's location is changed again, and the text in the written book is updated so you can find it. It's sorta like that.
sounds like we have a book to find.

Sony is just like sitting back chilling saying: "oh 3ds has hacks? oh cfw/ piracy too? Well look at the PSP and vita there is a reason why we killed those off already"
kind of hard to do that when its more successful than your current console (don't quote me on that, Im just saying the 3ds tends to be much more popular than the Wii U). If they killed off handhelds, that would mean no more pokemon games until a new handheld, as well as other flagship titles that Nintendo really needs to be successful.

I'm confused.
If I'm on 9.2, and I use Luma, would I be safe?
Or would they patch emunand in a update?
All I'm asking is, am I safe to keep using these mods?
I don't use A9LH(?).

Yeah, find vulnerabilities and then sue your ass at the same time, if you don't handle over the goods. I wouldn't help them at all and leave it be, as I wouldn't trust them not matter what money is on the table.
