Hi guys,

I did get some help couple of weeks back setting up SD card and loadiine, being abit slow in nature I have harder time getting to understand some things, I've noticed alot new posts around here.
Haven't been looking around much but is there a new exploit that uses something else than Loadiine?

What's the cheapest and easiest way to set it up? Is it safe?
Any help is much appreciated, tried looking through some threads but I can't get my head around it.

What programs are a must have?
Can I use a SD card or is ehm.. was it hard drive?

Please!
Thank you in advance

There is a new method which allows you to install games to your hdd/nand.

Read this http://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-u-usb-loading-install-wiiu-games-to-usb-or-internal-memory.445514/

It's completely safe - no one has bricked.

If you want to install to nand you don't need to buy anything. You just install from your sd to your nand. If you have the 32GB model you can fit 5-10 full games on your nand.

This guide covers everything. You need a nus downloader and wupinstaller.

Benefits: you don't need to run the exploit everytime you want to play a game + you can play online.

you need both an sd card with enough space for the game install files
and a hard drive/usb thumbdrive for the actual installation
then you put the game tik inside sd:/install/ along with the files and install with wup installer

Is there any downside to install to nand?
I have a 64gb memory card, that dont even fit 5-10 games, with loadiine some games are 20gb or more?

Is there more than one nus downloader and wupinstaller? I see alot of different programs, cant figure out which to use.

Edit: Oh allright, so what kind of HDD do I need? USB stick? or an actual HDD that connects to USB?
THanks!

Does SD card count as external? I have a 500gb external HDD but there's lot of stuff I need to keep on it so I'm not sure I can use that for wiiU and I'm too poor to buy a brand new USB HDD at this moment.

Im out of luck then? :(

it should work as an external device if you connect it to your wii u usb port with a usb card reader
but you still need a second sd card inside your wii u for the game install files

My SD card reader didn't work as a USB I had to buy a USB Flash Drive they are pretty cheap like I bought a 64gb one for £12.99

Sweeet, I can totally afford 10-20usd anything higher is abit harder!
So the games are downloaded from the programs? Ehm, isn't this site against piracy?

I see alot of programs linked in this forum, which specifically should I use?

Use NUSGrabber and you can find the things to install the games on that iso site

Kafluke, it looks like that link you provided, that program isn't finished yet - without using that program.
Does the normal method involve alot of modifying or is it rather, download game and .tik? and then install -> ready to play?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Okey so just to check I got everything right.

1. Download and install WUP installer on pc
2. download and install
uTikDownloadHelper ?
3. Get dumped tik files from iso site
4. place game + tik file on SD card and then use WUP installer from pc to install?

Do you use WUPinstaller to download games too?
Ehm,don't really get it I think

Benefits: you don't need to run the exploit everytime you want to play a game + you can play online.

Personally the list of benefits for USB method are:
  • Can run straight from home menu no need to boot stuff with browser
  • Offline setup friendly because of this (though I always have my tether capable phone and 4g connection on me and kafluke host/loadiine.ovh exist so, yeah I know it is not huge but still there)
  • Because the titles are 100% legit run as they should, online
  • Also the official Load-ins that you usually are missing with Loadiine (seriously, I like these and been a small enjoyable part of Wii U experience ever since I got my system, it is now nice to see them for everything else)
  • Electric manuals. Nobody reads them, but it is nice to have them. Anyone who has not yet checked it out; check out Paper Mario C.S. digital manual. They somehow went completely insane with it (Possibly ideas how they want to do electric manuals with Switch too?)
  • Since games are made to be run from either Disc or the USB, there will be NO stuttering/slow loading problems - usually. Of course if your HDD is very bad with Wii U some slow loads exist, but Super Mario 3D world load times are not a problem with USB, and I mean to test does Project Zero still have weird mass stuttering when you go to menu screen and come back from it during a ghost encounter in the game (These always make the game outright stop twice with loadiine before resuming normal operation)
  • Kinda Obvious but USB space is easier to get and stuff. Heck I had a 160 gig Drive in my Wii U that was just old drive from some old laptop somebody did not need, I got a 10 eur USB enclosure for it and been using it since. After this method I pulled a random 500gig drive out, put it in one of salvaged external HDD's where the HDD broke but controller was fine and accepted ANY drive just dandy. I made virtually free 500 gig extra for my Wii U to upgrade to, while 64gig SD card was cheap, but not free.
So the two things this method does not do and why I keep few Loadiine titles gladly on my SD card still?
Region free and Modified game content. First being for any good arse Jap titles, or even US titles not out in europe or whatever. Other is undubs, uncencors, etc. - Even if I could I am not installing Persona x Fire Emblem (which is a borderline shitty game BTW if you can save yourself) on my HDD is because it has a fantastic uncencor work done to it for Nintendo's way beyond excessive content modification to make this game appeal to little children, when that is not even the target audience of the game.

Xenoblade X being of course a dilemma, have undub, or online capability in it? Indeed hard choices my friends. (Though if one would be adventurous they could swap their saves around between loadiine and console to play parts with undub and parts online I dunno)

Ehm,don't really get it I think

So as simply as I can explain:
You need NUSgrabber. At least this is your best bet. You can also use NEW-NUSgrabber out in this site, which is a package for NUSgrabber and a UI for it. Most people recommend NUSgrabber.

So I try to break this down as easy as I can. I am european and see you are swedish so let's start with example of... Starfox guard.

You first go to http://wiiubrew.org/wiki/Title_database - this is one of the best sources for title information and also explains quite nicely what different Letter codes mean. (like 00050000 in first part of ID stands for a Full title, but 0005000E means an update, but is otherwise the exact same title ID, helps out later I promise)

So you press CTRL+F to search the page for... Star fox:
1N4g1qw.png

And we got a hit. Make sure you look the right most part of the columns and make sure the region of the game you want. In your case it is European, I am sure.
Now you copy this part; It is the TITLE ID which we so need:
SFuf3Od.png

After this; I assume you just get NUSgrabber because it shows the download progress/speed in somewhat nice fashion.
Put NusGrabber.exe in a folder you do not mind getting filled with random looking folders.
cU6YpP7.png

There he is!

Right click WHILE HOLDING SHIFT-KEY without having any files highlighted in the folder, you should see choice to open a command prompt in this directory thing. Have a Finnish Lesson from me:
zLvm3Uc.png

Open it up.

Just type in "nus" and press TAB, it should fill out automatically into "NUSgrabber.exe" - then press space, right click and past the title ID (in Windows 7 CTRL-V does not work in CMD, Win 10 it does, I think Win 8 it also pastes text into the prompt) we checked up earlier. Use the cursor in command prompt to go back a little and remove the separating dash in the ID:
i5pOhTn.png

Then hit enter and it will start downloading the files. In the end it does a move command and might say "something was not found" or whatever. This is normal, and just means it is done with everything. The Folder it downloads the game files you need to is same name as the title ID, so in this case our folder would be "00050000101BED00"

Inside these folders the contents look like this: (This is an example and I think it was a download I did not complete fully mind you)
EdupyWe.png

You see you have the weird app h3 files and then title.cert, title.tmd and... title.tik nowhere to be found? Yes, at this point you seek out that database and take the TIK that corresponds to the same region as your game, and put it in the folder with rest of the files. You now have 100% installable folder for your game. You can rename it now to something more helpful, say in this example, "STAIRFAWKS GARD" or something like that. Whatever fills your bowl.

You take this folder, and maybe any other such folders, and MAYBE EVEN UPDATES - and copy them on your SD card SD:\install\STAIRFAWKS GUARD\ fashion. So you have individual folder inside install folder per thing you want to install.

here is where you need WUPinstaller:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/wupinstaller-y-mod-with-mulitple-install-folders.445907/
THIS DOES NOT DOWNLOAD GAMES IN ANY MANNER. it is an application for your Wii U (kinda like Loadiine but nothing like Loadiine) that handles installing these files on either your system storage, or to USB storage. The thread for the tool tells you enough how you should put it, and so on.

After you have the WUPinstaller on your SD card correctly, WITH Homebrew Launcher, and other apps I hope, you launch homebrew channel with any of your favorite web browser exploit ways, loadiine.ovh or self hosting, anything. Then you launch WUP installer, use UP/DOWN dpad to choose folders, right to mark them for install (* means "to install" etc) - and hit either A or X if you want to install them on your system or USB storage, and then it will boot into nice installation prompt and stuff happens. After this you can press HOME button to exit WUPinstaller, then HOME button to exit homebrew channel, then EXIT button in mii maker to get back to home menu and rejoice in glory of games in your home screen.

NOTES:
UPDATES: I said We will come back to this. Because you have blocked the updates in your console in one way or another, I presume, you cannot download game updates in the console as is either. but you CAN just download them with NUSgrabber. like I said earlier just take the first half of the ID and replace last 0 with E and it downloads the update data. UPDATE DATA ALREADY HAS A TIK FILE WHEN DOWNLOADED WITH NUSGRABBER. Just rename the folder after the download and install it too, to same place you installed your full game to and you have now the update there too, should work fine and dandy.

Also; There IS ready made packages for people like you on that site so you just download extract and install no need for command prompt shenanigans. But I believe in teaching the man to fish rather than giving him the fish. Also knowing NUSgrabber is important anyway so you can get Updates for the games which many games desperately do need.

So to clarify for you:
WUPinstaller is for the WII U, uTikDownloadHelper is a utility to make downloading titles easier (ALTERNATIVE to NUSgrabber I went through in this post)
There right now is many ways to download the titles and I just happen to prefer the command line NUSgrabber. You CAN use uTikDOwnloadHelper if you want.

ALSO: MAKE SURE OF THE REGION, THIS METHOD IS NOT REGION FREE LIKE LOADIINE. It will not (likely?) Brick your console if you do get wrong region game but it will save you time to NOT download the wrong region stuff.

One way to get "easily" NUSgrabber.exe is to just download the NEW-Nusgrabber from here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/download-the-new-nusgrabbergui.411228/
Then put it in a folder. Open it and keep it open, it will create NUSgrabber.exe in the same folder it is in (like you can see in my screenshot up there) and then you open the command prompt and whatnot.

And that is all. Inshallah my friend.

Wow, thanks alot!
This was very helpful, I managed to download some games just to clear one thing out.

Can I remove what I did to block wii u system updates for an hour or two and download updates to the games and then add it again?

Yes. 5.5.1 is still the current fw so it's safe to remove it for a few hours.
