So recently I moved my N3DS Emunamd to a bigger sd. But when I tried to reboot Browserhax on the bigger sd it just stopped on a red screen. I have a boot.3dsx and my 3ds folder so I am wondering why it isn't booting up. I used the exact same files yesterday. Anyone know how to fix this?

Red screen means it can't find boot.3dsx. Make sure it's on the root, and if it is, then maybe your SD card is faulty.

Did you just copy everything from your small SD to The bigger one, if yes then it doesn't work that way. You must copy all data from your small SD root to a pc, make a emuNAND backup, make a new emuNAND on your bigger SD, then restore your backup to the new emuNAND, and copy everything from pc to the root of the new SD, use a entry point of your choice, and install menuhax anew, that's how I did it and it worked for me, good luck:yay:

I have done that. After this Browserhax just freezes at a red screen.

Did you changed the date on your sysNAND to 01.01.2000 and time to 00:00, that bypasses the browserhax ban?
Yes. I am able to use the browser for whatever. It's just Browserhax freezes on a red screen despite me having all the right files on my root.

I think I may have found out what was going on a bit. I tried with my other sd's and homebrew popped up fine so I popped my 64 gig with my emuand in while in the homebew menu and all my apps and stuff showed up. So I installed menuhax. After that I tried going back to the homebrew menu using start to exit and it froze on the red screen. So I am guessing something on my sd is making the red screen appear. But what could it be?

Drag the other SD Card's Homebrew files and such and replace the stuff you have on the one that's causing a red screen and see if that makes a difference or not.

So I replaced all the new stuff with my old stuff (3ds folder, boot.3dsx) But it still is going to red screen with this SD. I would hate having to use two Sd's to go to emunand each time.

I was going to suggest installing a9lh but then I realised the faulty SD card might prevent the console even booting up (it has to read a file on boot up). But AW is working on a release of the no-sd-needed version (you can use it now but it has problems with DS mode). So I think your options are:
  1. Buy new SD card, or
  2. Use old SD card, or
  3. Continue swapping them back and forth, or
  4. Install a9lh then update to AW's branch but not use any DS games, or
  5. Wait for the full release of the no-sd-needed branch and install a9lh, meanwhile do either of 2 or 3.

I wouldn't say it's faulty so it may work. I heard you can get A9LH without downgrading to 2.1. How would I be able to do that? Could you link me to a guide google has had nothing for me.

Https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki Or download the whole guide and tools required from my page quantumc.at

When you get to the FBI injection part please please use the tool I made (it is on my page). If one person uses it then it won't feel like such a waste of a day making it :-(

I wouldn't use the faulty one for the OTPless method. There have been 3-4 bricks reported from using cards that stopped working briefly during the installation (this was a problem with Safearm9installer 2.5 and apparently fixed in 2.5.1)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

    run h2testw on it
