Check what Sysnand version you have and start accordingly on this page:
https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-1-(Decrypt9)

Don't really know where you might saw that. It's perfectly OK to do it on 2DS.
If you already have rednand configured, it's easy to upgrade to A9LH.

What you must NEVER do on a 2DS is format the system when you have it on 2.1 (that you do on page 2).
That is the only thing to be carefull.

You can go to the same page I told above ---^^^^ and start according to you sysnand version.
how to check my sysnand ver and region?

I followed the guide and it worked perfectly. At this point, I'm unsure how to run Decrypt9 now on my O3DS. When I try to launch it from HBL, it just flashes a red screen twice then exits back to HBL. I'm trying to dump Xorpads, at this point.

Thanks :D I was just being careful because the 2ds I want to install a9lh to is a capture card, and it would really suck if it got bricked

Does this let you recover from a hard brick (if you have NAND backups on your SD card)? I've seen several tutorials on how to recover from a soft brick with a9lh but couldn't find one fixing hard bricks. I don't actually have a hard bricked 3ds but I'm wondering just in case something like that ever happens

EDIT: Also different question: When I restore my 2ds's emuNand, can I use a different 3ds's health and safety dump? I don't really care too much about this just wondering, because in the tutorial I used to install redNand, I just deleted the original one and used HS as FBI

How long does it usually take people to install arm9loader.
I did the DSiWare Downgrade method when I bought my New Galaxy Style n3ds xl the week it came out. Including the time to system transfer from my o3ds, and then continue on with the guide it took me about 2.5 hours for me, including time to fix an issue that occured during system transfer.

My o3ds was already hacked when I went into it. I was upgrading from my o3ds to the n3ds. The o3ds was my main hacked console (with A9LH) until I finally upgraded to the n3ds.

I was wondering if it still had CFW after the system transfer sorry about the confusion.

This is hopefully my last question. While I was downgrading my CFW 2ds to 2.1.0, I accidentally updated it while I was putting the back part back on (I had to take the battery out to enable wireless.) I have a backup of the sysNand when it was at 9.2, would it work if I restored it from Homebrew?

The backup is usable, but if you're at 11.1 now, you'll need either a hardmod or the DSiWare exploit in order to restore it.

EDIT: I think I misread this - if the system that was upgraded already had A9LH installed, then you can run Hourglass9 or Decrypt9WIP or similar from A9LH to restore the backup.

Is there still no way to downgrade from 11.0??
There's two methods for downgrading from 11.0 and 11.1:
  • DSiWare - requires a second 3DS that's already been hacked
  • Hardmod - requires soldering
There's no software-only single-system method for downgrading from 11.0+ at the moment.

There aren't any Software only downgrades, at least not with a single system.
There are the hardmod and DSiWare Downgrade options which still work on 11.1 because Ninty is either really lazy or really stupid.

Rumor says the guy who found the Nintendo 3ds Sound exploit also found a new arm11 kernel exploit, and is currently looking for an arm9 exploit. But until something is released or proof comes out those are just rumors.
But just an arm11 kernel exploit isn't enough to downgrade, you would need arm9 with 11.0+ in order to downgrade.

Edit: Just to add, if we had arm9 on 11.0+ it would negate the need to downgrade anyway as we could then just port CFW and other arm9 software to 11.0+

No, I meant that the 2DS updated before I could install a9lh(I forgot to turn wireless on in 2.1.0, so I had to take the battery out, and when I was screwing the back on, I accidentally hit the a button when it prompted for an update). If I do a system transfer to it from my O3DS, will it keep a9lh on it?

system transfer will not remove a9lh from your o3ds. So you can do the DSiWare downgrade by transferring the hacked Fieldrunners/other exploits game to the 2ds, and as long as you have a HBL entry point for 11.1 you can downgrade. But 11.1 does not have browserhax or menuhax. You may also be able to transfer over a hacked steeldiver to do that, the guide may say that but I haven't read it in a while.

Edit: Just checked, and the DSiWare Downgrade guide does include using steelhax for the entrypoint to downgrade 11.1, so you don't even need to worry about buying a primary exploit game to do it.
